I have some theories
Theory 1: Trevor Ariza is going to come off the bench the rest of the year, but not because thats our best starting line up. In fact, the only reason shane starts is so that he appears to be an important piece to the squad for trading purposes this summer. If he loses his starting spot, his trade value suffers. Plus having the summer to move his family and get things coordinated is the Rockets hope for a peaceful parting.
Theory 2: Yao does not come back with the team if he gets hurt for any significant time next year. Yao will not exercise his option since he missed the whole year and becoming a free agent will cost him money short term. I think Mr. Alexander will plug up the middle with other assets like young rebounders with our upcoming draft picks. They will be alternating between D-League and practice players while we see what few minutes we can use Yao where he is still effective but not overused
Theory 3: Adelman has a lot of say with the team. Sleepy dreams of a team in the mold of his old kings teams. Playing fast, cutting, and winning the game on the offensive end. Which is why i believe in theory 1. He likes Chase cause he's athletic and can shoot from distance. So can all of our guards. Trevor is similar to what Doug Christie used to bring. Ditto Scola in the Webber mold. Lowry = Bobby Jackson energy/pace pusher off the bench. Our Vlade is better if he doesn't get hurt. That Kings team was number 1 in free throw shooting and look how our freethrow shooting has come up.
Theory 4: DM likes Chris bosh, but he wont want to give up Scola for him because he loves the fact that he got over on the Spurs and doesn't want to then trade him.
Also a sidenote: Was Clutch born when the rockets won their last championship? Thats why he's 15? Hmmm... i kinda like the bear now
No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

Interesting Theories
But…there’s just some things that just are interesting about them:
Theory 1: probably the only theory I really disagree with. A second unit of Lowry/Budinger/Ariza/Hill/Jeffries is not a bad group at all. I don’t think we’re going to trade Shane, especially since he’s an expiring contract after 2011. Plus, he’s a veteran defender and a guy who preaches defense on this team. Ariza may be Battier 2.0, but I’d like to keep both on my roster next season, even if Trevor starts.
Theory 2: sad to say it, you’re probably right. You lose Yao for a significant portion of the 2010-11 season, there’s no way he comes back at a maximum deal. I think Yao maintains his abilities…maybe he drops to an 18ppg/8rpg guy, but with Scola, K-Mart and Brooks there to pick up the slack (and then Budinger, Ariza, and Hill also showing potential), we’ll be better off than last year.
Theory 3: I can agree with that…but this team is not Sacramento.
Theory 4: We won’t be adding Chris Bosh. I think he joins another superstar somewhere else next season, but he’s not coming to Houston unless we pull a sign-n-trade…and that would probably be for Scola/Battier/Budinger (owch that hurts).

In Daryl Morey, Rick Smith and Ed Wade we (usually) trust.
Shane
I would hate to see him go, because he’s currently one of the few guys on the team that plays ANY defense. I know things got worse when Ariza got injured, but it bothers me when teams literally score at will on us (think the Utah game). I know its fun to score a lot of points (KMart/Aaron Brooks), but we have to find a way to keep other teams under a hundred/game.
It Surprises Me That People Are So Confident He's Leaving This Summer..
Rahat over at Red94, an opinion I respect very much, expressed the same sentiment as the OP that Shane has a good chance of being moved this Summer.
I think Shane brings a culture of consistency to the perimeter D mentality. He has a discipline that I think persists even as his athleticism begins to fail him. The guy is still only 31, and if anyone can benefit from increasing experience to combat decreasing athleticism, its Shane.
If we believe in being a team that wins in the playoffs over the next few years, I see his talent as being invaluable.

On Theory 3:
I like your thought on this point. Coach Sleepy does seem to have a lot of say. I like that. He’s a great basketball mind, and I have no problem building a franchise around a coach to an extent., especially one as proven as Adelman.
I don’t think he’s necessarily trying to resurrect the old King’s roster, however. He’s a coach that prides himself on adjusting to player’s capabilities (in contrast to someone like Phil Jackson). But I do think there is such thing as a player that fits the ‘Adelman mold’. For example, he shows a strong preference for bigs who can pass, wings who can shoot off picks, and intelligent decision makers on the perimeter offensively. So I do see your point.

The Utah Game
Utah is the worst possible matchup for the Rockets because they don’t have any “wing players” who are dominant offensively. Their best offensive players are:
Williams, a PG
Boozer, a strong, physical and undersized PF
Millsaps, a PF in the Carl Landry mold
Okur, a perimeter oriented C who spreads the floor
AK-47, a SF who’s not a primary or secondary option
Basically, the makeup of the Jazz hurts teams that have defensive ‘specialists’ at the SG-SF positions because they don’t really feature those positions as key offensive spots.

hopefully that utah game was an aberration
shane, trevor and kyle were all out so no one could contain deron when he went off. we were too short-handed.
Theory 4 is Flat Out Wrong
Morey will do anything it takes to improve the team. He will not let a chance go by due to vanity. Look at what just happened, I’m sure he was thrilled with the great move he made to draft Landry, but he had no problem trading Landry if it improved the team.

Let me expand on Theory 4
Guys have egos. I know seeing as im a guy. One of the best ways a guy’s ego is stroked is when he one -ups another guy, whether that be by having a finer girl, having a better job, doing a better job then a person in a similar position and resources, or by using what another guy gives up and making it useful to him. Trust me, DM is happy that he landed AB late in the first round. Happy that he landed a guy like Carl who turned out to be more valuable than his draft position suggest. But really, the only accolades from that range from “you just got lucky” to “its the development by the coach and the players effort that did it”. The ego stroke comes when you trade for Battier and immediately jump to top 3 in the league in defense. When you take Scola from a rival and use him against them every year. When you see a knicks team in a vulnerable position and you take them for any future valuable assets they possess aside from cap space. I guess take that for what its worth, but other than straight up Scola for Bosh, I dont see him moving Scola.
