T-Mobile Player of the Week: Luis Scola
44 points. On 25 shots. And a bunch of rebounds, too.
That is all.

no, I swear
Tom did not write the above post while I held a gun to his head. Though if he suggested anyone else, I would have.
No gun necessary I think.
Who else could it have been?
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
Well deserved.
Scola has been having a good year by any definition, but what’s really impressive to me is how much Luis has picked up his per 36 minutes rates on scoring and rebounding since Landry was traded. As Adelman said, he’s found another gear, and in this small sample size, he’s looked like a superstar.
That plus the raw-but-promising play of Hill has left us in almost as good of shape at the PF position as we were before the trade.
Bosh who?
so biased

Just realized
Off work today and NBA TV has replay of Rockets-Denver.
The layup that Scola made to tie game and the FT to take lead at 43 second mark?
Scola started the play ON THE FLOOR! He gathered the loose ball, passed it,got up and beat everybody but Billups down the court. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody go to floor near one basket, get the ball, then get up and beat everybody down the floor for a layup at other end. Incredible play that got lost in frenzy of last few seconds.
It wasn't lost by everyone, but yes, that's the play of the night in the NBA.

Definitely
the play of the night! I have watched the highlight video dozens of times now and still get goosebumps.
Also, props to Ariza for not panicking and finding Brooks when two nuggets were pressuring him hard.

LUU-WEEE-SSSS SSSSCOOOLA
Love our announcer and Scola.
Felt like the play near the end where he fell to the floor for the rebound, passed it off to Brooks, got up and ran the floor, got it back from Brooks and scored – this play epitomizes why I love the Air Scola.
Yes I said “Air Scola”, please reread with sarcasm.
Apparently
the points count as long as the ball goes through the basket. Jumping isn’t required.
Who knew?

I was shocked
to learn the NBA doesn’t give style points.

I was suprised to actually see anyone in the national media give Scola a headline but I did stumble accross this which was dated yesterday.

Go Rockets!
Of course Luis Scola is the best player in Rockets at the moment. He is playing a smart offensive and defensive game. Other ones, for example Ariza or Martin are too sleepy right now, I don’t actually know why. Let’s hope that we will see the different game in the playoffs and more nice points from Ariza, Martin and other players too. Too bad that Tracy is not with us anymore… I remember how he was killing the opponents in playoffs few years ago. I will always remember those times. However we must look at the future and hope for the best. Thanks for keeping that blog up by the way! Oh and sorry if I am telling something wrong, because I am an only girl among the men company.
