This should be something
It’s St. Patrick’s Day and “O’Clyde” is commenting. Can’t wait for the cliches.
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
Because we're the Rockets that's why

a lot of just stupid turnovers
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
Hill needs to take that open jumper.
I know he can make it. When they give it to him, he needs to keep taking it until he gets confident in it at game time.
Since when does Battier lead the charge then shoot a three?
that was weird
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
10 Turnovers in the Denver game
and 6 already tonight, hope that doesn’t come back to bit them

what i love about this team
we are 1 deep at every position comfortably…after AB, KM, TA, Scole, and Hayes, we then have KL, CB, SB, JH, and DA…thats still with Jeffries, Taylor, and Armstrong who can be good bencvh players on many teams…

Hill being aggressive on the boards
love it
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
take care of the ball..
and suddenly we’re in the lead based on what they do to our turnovers, the defense could be better but they need to fix that first and foremost.
wow refs missed a big one
Chuck was out of bounds when he fought Mayo for that
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
wow
Thank god for the new Rockets (Hill and Martin)
Chuck Hayes is getting abused by a D-League reject.
I am still laughing

Why is Hayes still out there?
Hill, RA! Hill!!
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
OKC loss to Carlotte
impeding SA loss to Orlando, we need to win to cut deficit against probable last play-off rivals by 1 full game.
I'm hoping he's just sore

Lowry
Lowry was looking sloppy the whole night anyways. Get better KL7!!
Does everyone here realize that Brooks
Is in his first full year starting and he is averaging a point and assist less derrick rose and chauncy billups? Not to mention he leads the league and three pointers made, and has a deadly offensive game that has little weakness other than his size. As a blazer fan I saw him hit clutch shots and rip us apart in the playoffs. And he his a TON of clutch game winners as a duck player, I am sure there are more to come. Just making sure you guys know what you have. His assist numbers and shooting percentage should only go up with experience.
Why wouldn't Rocket fans know that?

You would
Which is why when I frequent this site, I am surprised I dont see more excitement or posts regarding brooks. And you dont see much talk about him around the league.
Cuz he isn't a franchise star is why.
But, he’s a quality player in the L.

Trust me, we are excited about Brook's progression
I’m just hoping that he actually gets some recognition around the league and wins MIP.

that's because they want a starter with "true PG skills"
I guess they forgot about the Derrick Rose’s of the world

Look at the stats
Billups PPG 19.9 Ast 5.7
Rose PPG 20.4 ast 5.7
Brooks ppg 20 Ast 5.2
You hear a lot about the first two, nothing about brooks.
That's because they're considered superstars

At least he should be, and if China has anything to say about it he’ll be starting

Agreed
I think brooks could get a few more easy assists tossing it to yao too.

probably up his 5 assists average
to 7 or 8

He's also going to get a lot of cheapies from Martin, and vice-versa.
How do you contain the two of them?
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
wouldn't it be grand?
If the starting 5 for the rockets were the starters in the ASG?

maybe his ankle was feeling sore
he was issuing bad passes and letting chase handle the ball whichalso led to turnovers

I'm pretty thrilled about Brooks.
He’s a scoring machine and just entering his prime. He’s not an assist machine PG, but he’s ok, and the Adelman offense doesn’t require one distributor, it requires what Brooks can do.
His D is maybe even getting better with his tougher new haircut. At least I think he’ll learn to use his speed to cut off drives and pick off passes.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
7 threes is a career for AB i believe!

Bill Worrell and Clyde Drexler are bringing up a great point
Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks have a natural chemistry as a duo that Tyreke Evans and Kevin never had. Every day this trade moves forward, and if Jordan Hill continues to pan out as a reasonably good player, the trade at the deadline will look magnificent for the Rockets moving forward.
All I know? Aye Carumba. The Rockets are going to be tough to beat if Yao is back and healthy.

I was worried about this, given that before the trade Aaron and Tyreke had virtually identical stats (Usage, Shooting %, Assist %, etc.). They seem to work well together though. Brooks has been incredible in March.

and don't forget
Now that we have Brooks, Martin and Scola handling most of the scoring duties, Tweek is becoming far more productive and useful… and he’s not shooting nearly as many hopeless 3s.
that's really because Rockets have a team-first philosophy
Listen to AB’s interviews. He always gives credit to his teammates. After Denver game, he especially gave props to Trevor. He said that the team should have some sort of recognition, not just him. “We play basketball down here. We also should be on national television.”
That’s our Rockets—a bunch of undervalued players playing with a chip on their shoulders. But just wait, they will soon be turning heads again just like in the early part of this season.

Hey Pookey - sorry to miss you on the threads.
I think they’re going to be a great combo, and Lowry will be able to work very well with Martin as well. Hill, from what I’ve seen, looks like a rough, but real, top 10 pick. He’s explosive, relentless on the boards, fast up and down the court, and has a soft touch. His inside game needs work, but this is Houston, we can work with that.
It’s fun to watch him run the floor with the other AZ Wildcat Budinger – couple of nice plays there.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
AB 7-7 from three, 31 points on just 14 shots
Defense was great in the 2nd half, only gave up 39 points to Memphis! Battier was great off the bench.
Thabeet had a pretty good game, considering how everyone has written him off as a complete scrub. Not going to give up on him just yet.

yeah, and let's keep Shane and Luis
Those guys have a lot of history with us. There are no other players that I would rather go into battle with than those two. So, Morey, let’s keep them!!!
It all depends on Yao and what deals may be out there.
If Yao looks good to go, I think we keep Shane, as he’s a very useful piece to a contending team. I’m convinced the Rockets have the money and will spend it if they think they have a shot to go to the WCF.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
One of the small forwards has to go. We have three of them; it’s overkill, as you can see by how few minutes Budinger has been getting since Ariza came back. A combo guard would be a better fit. Almost wish they’d have given Temple a two year/league minimum deal. Maybe Morey has a trade or second round (if he buys another pick) target that he prefers.
I'm really liking...
Battier coming off the bench. We’re undefeated with him not starting. No disrespect to Battier, he is my favorite Rocket.
I don't think it's that
it’s having this whole team together.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
Yes, but stats don't lie
They don’t tell the truth all the time, but they don’t lie.
I've been thinking the last few games
This group has gelled so well. Scola is playing out of his mind. Battier can still play defense. Brooks is proving daily why he should win MIP. Lowry is one of the best back-up PG’s in the league. Ariza is done very well for himself since the trade now that he’s not a #1 opinion. Martin is being Martin and scoring efficiently. Hill and Budinger are two extrememly promising rookies.
So the question.
Is there any reason why DM should even make a trade for Bosh or another free agent? Plug Yao into the equation, and this team, as it is, is a lethal contender. Plus a trade for a Bosh would involve extremely key players and leaders to this team. I don’t know if it’s worth it.
"What is a Laker anyway? A sub-aquatic Quaker? It doesn't make sense."
by ressaliance_00 on Mar 17, 2010 10:13 PM CDT reply actions
Bosh would come pretty expensive
and i am also of the opinion that his upgrades would not be worth what we have to give up. Scola is at his peak playing form and would not have any gelling problems playing with yao. Maybe we should place priorities on a yao back-up instead, so he can play less minutes, reducing the risks of injury.
If you’re asking me whether I would give up Scola, Brooks, and Battier for Bosh (which is the minimum, I suspect), my answer to you is a resounding “no”. No, I wouldn’t make that trade.
I strongly suspect Toronto would demand we throw in picks or Jordan Hill or Chase Budinger as well, too, and that makes it even more no.
If we do a sign and trade I hope Morey doesn’t give up anything outside Battier, Jeffries, Hayes, and draft picks. I generally like the team we have now.
a 6'3"ish PG
hybrid of our offensive PG in brooks and defensive PG in lowry.
