Game 67: Rockets vs. Celtics
Boston Celtics at Houston Rockets, Mar 19, 2010 7:30 PM CDT
Thank you, NBA Schedulers, for yet another oddity. The Rockets played all four of their games versus Dallas before January started, so their first game against Boston comes in late March. Good times.

okay angry fan here!
Okay so what was the deal with all the Celtic fans in the crowd? let me clarify that I understand Houston is a big city. Please PLEASE dont come to a game and BOO our Rockets. It was ridiculous tonight how quite the crowd was. Way to let our team down :(!
Bandwagoners
3 years from now = 0 Celts fans outside of the Northeast area
Boston is full of people who love Boston teams no matter what, yet evidently can't find work in Boston.
So they come here and elsewhere, and wear their Celtics/Red Sox/Patriots/Bruins crap in other teams arenas incessantly. I can say that the people in other places are generally nicer to them than they are to visiting fans of other teams.
Don’t let the Sports Guy fool you – these fans frequently live down to their “Masshole” rep.

Very immature
There is barely any Boston fans here trolling yet the Rocket fans are insulting the Boston Celtics fanbase.
Way to make yourselves look like douchebags.
Anyways, I thought the game last night was great. It was a tough battle for both teams (especially for the Celtics with all the fouls the refs were giving against them…)
Good game.

Were you at the game? I was.

Chuck Hayes is our 2nd leading scorer with 6 pts??? I think we’re due for a better second half

Rondo's playing good defense and Speed's having an off night.
That’s the real problem, really.
Minnesotan Rockets fan
Why is Kevin Martin being taken out
He’s drawing the fouls and carrying the offensive load right now.
looks like
this just ain’t our night. no one for Houston really looks sharp tonight.
hey debbie downer
There are 4 quarters to a basketball game. The Rockets are still very much in this.

Clyde
just said the potential fourth go-to guy on the Celtics is Rasheed Wallace. I…I don’t know what to do anymore.
Brooks streak of making 3 ptrs
Might be done tonight

well,
it was a good game against an elite team that played elite.
We played at their pace and it killed us.
They are a very good defensive team, and you have to push everything against them and tire out their big men and older players. When they’re coming off rest, and their guys can jog leisurely back on D, they’re very hard to beat. The delay the game off makes more than any team I’ve seen this year. One or two times “accidently” holding the ball, knocking it away – fine. Five? Ten? KICKING it away more than once? It’s a strategy.

Jordan Hill
5 blocks, 7 rebounds, and 11 points in 26 minutes tonight. He wasn’t terribly efficient on offense, mostly because he missed two out of three free throws, but other than that he looked good.
Just wait until he gets a summer with Sikma and CD under his belt...
This kid is going to be good.

The Celtics end our March winning streak on our own floor (22-game win streak then)

They're a bad bad matchup for Houston without Yao especially.
Yao can either score at Boston’s pace, or open up space for other scorers by either drawing a front, or a double team.
If we could have done “8 seconds, then Yao” tonight, it could have been a different outcome.

Rondo did a number on Brooks
He was completely shut down the whole game. If I were RA I would have played Brooks when Nate was out there-I think that would have been a match-up in the Rocket’s favor. Other than that, I am now 1-7 in games I’ve gone to this year :[ quite depressing actually.
But great crowd turnout, probably the most I’ve seen at a game since Lebron was in town. Unfortunately a lot of those fans were in green, but the Rocket’s fans there were loud and cheered and booed at all the right times, very into the game. To bad we couldn’t pull this one out.

Boston fan here.
Not here to rub it in guys.
Just wanting to say good game, and I was quite surprised by the way Brooks was “had”. I seriously like him. He’s sort of my favorite amongst “underdog guards”. Of course, I’m a big Rondo fan, but I didn’t think Rajon would be able to keep Aaron contained like that. Aaron is seriously fast.
Scola was awesome. Very impressed, though I did see him flopping there :p Harharhar
Anyway, good luck out there guys, and cya around.

Rondo was very physical with him, leaning on and holding him a lot. Brooks does tend to struggle more against that kind of PG. I think you’re going to see Brooks bulk up just a little bit in the off-season, as he typically has a good sense of what he needs to work on.
It was a good game. Boston played good, shutdown defense. Brooks, Martin, and Scola usually combine for around 60+ points since the trade, and tonight they only managed 44. Credit to your team for taking them out of their rhythm.
Brooks had a real problem with BOTH Boston PG.
Rondo was very handsy as is usual for him. Robinson is very quick and stronger than Brooks, he’d play 2-4 steps back so Brooks couldn’t drive around him and it worked. Lowry on the other hand can simply brush through Robinson, and Rondo can’t really hold him up as much either.

Kevin Martin
Needs to get more than 12 shots,,,,,,
Couldn't tell what it was from the game - it looked like he hurt his shoulder.
But Boston really made Houston’s offense look bad – it wasn’t just Martin, it was everyone

I thought RA could have designed a scheme in which we use Rondo's aggressiveness against him
like run him through really big screens. We were reacting to Boston, we could have forced some things against them.
Boston has difficulty with athletic guys, maybe use Chase and Trevor more. And we could have tried Jeffries against Pierce. Pierce killed us in the 4th.
It makes me sad, but I think this game shows the inevitability of us breaking up this roster (meaning losing either or both Shane and Luis) so that we could acquire one more star power forward. That prospect makes me very sad.
