So, the Rockets lost Battier to injury on Sunday. He's out for a while... at least 10 days with a bum knee when Kyle Lowry avoided the 7/10 split on a layup but ran right into Shane. Unfortunate, but things like that do happen over the course of 82 games.
I shrugged it off because the Rockets came back to beat McGrady and the guy who thinks Jordan Hill is a "bad rookie". Seriously, wtf? Don't you actually have to give the guy a chance before you label him "bad"? Talk about using the Jump to Conclusions Mat the wrong way.
Then I tuned in last night at 7pm sharp to watch the Rockets. Okay, that's kind of a lie - as How I Met Your Mother was on and I figured that I had an hour gap to watch the Rockets once that show is over. But I digress...
Anyway, the Rockets come out of the gate slow against the Bulls... letting a team that just had a massive losing streak get some confidence. Bad idea. It really is horrible, this idea. Horrible. Scola and Martin had quick starts on offense, but ABZ truly lived up to the "zero" part of his nickname/number. And the whole team looked allergic to defense. Again. This allowed the Bulls to take a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
But no matter... the Rockets are good at comebacks, right?
Uhhhhhhh... not this time.
Before I could blink twice - Jared Jeffries goes down. Something about his Achilles' heel. So the guy who replaced Battier is hurt too. It's okay though - we still had Jordan Hill. Oh, wait. Just when Keith Jones got back to the bench after attending to Jeffries, Hill mistimes his jump on a rebound/block attempt and sprained his ankle. It did not look good. At all. Kyle Lowry's sprained ankle looked less painful.
In the span of 72 minutes, the Rockets lost 3/5 of their useful front-court players. Scola's minutes can no longer be monitored. As the only guy around to help him will be Chuck Hayes.
I won't even mention Hilton Armstrong's name. Maybe Ariza or Budinger gets to play the "4" next game?
In a word: "ugh!!!"
