BRING JOEY BACK?

So now that Sacramento has waived Joey Dorsey, i think it's a good idea to resign him (i dunno if that's allowed)....We could use his gorilla dunks and we might actually get some productivity out of him (much better than having Hilton Armstrong i'd say). I think it's a great idea but i dunno if it'll work. What do you guys think? If your answer is no, please explain :)

we could do it, but we're not going to

Dorsey was always a project… and I think the Rockets are simply glad they could use him as a piece in the Speed Racer trade. He’s not someone they valued that much.

Do they value him over Hilton Armstrong?

:P

Joey SUCKS end of conversation. Even CHUCK is better than him. He’s not worth the money and roster spot. Mike Harris is BETTER than Joey.

Even CHUCK is better than him.

Chuck has a serious skill set in this league. If we’ve learned anything from this season it’s that his lack of size hasn’t hurt the Rockets. Injuries, inconsistency, and poor defense from guards have ruined this team, not Chuck.

How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!

lol

Chuck Hayes?…serious skill set?…in THIS league? i hope thats sarcasm
screw you Yao, Chuck = Face of the franchise

What was incorrect about that statement?

He absolutely has a serious skill set. It’s called rangy post defense. There are not a lot of guys in the entire NBA better at it. Do you think Morey just pays him for fun?

He’s not Yao, but he’s not paid like Yao either

Its statements like these that make me mentally mark posters in the "don't respect their opinion" category

Of course, to be fair, you might be a basketball genius who just undervalues defense and high post passing.

by flipasta on Mar 30, 2010 5:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Dude.

Joey Dorsey can ball. In case you weren’t paying attention to him when he played, his defense (post D in particular) was above average and did almost as good as a job post D wise as chuck did. Best example of that Post D is the game in Memphis. He destroyed Zach Randolph on post D while chuck clearly cannot keep up with Randolph.

awesome sample size there

Dorsey has one skill, but his rebounding alone isn’t enough to keep him on the court when he gets exposed on defense so much.

Well heck rebounding

kept Danny Fortson in the league for years…….

Yeah, but 100% of Dorsey is better than 50% of Chuck, which is what we have right now. Dorsey can also block shots, which is something I sorely miss having.

Why would we want joey back.
We have a bunch of people who are just plain better than him at his position.
I wish him the best and hope he can develop into a player, but we dont need what he has to offer.

I'd just want him back

So that Dave could write those stories again lol

by Carlos_HoustonSportsFanatic on Mar 30, 2010 12:10 AM CDT up reply actions

Yes!!!

Bring the gorilla dunk back! (and possibly “ruminations from the bench,” if Dave would want to continue doing it of course). It would add a lot of depth, we could cut or waive Armstrong and then sign joey for next year (if financially possible). If Morey signed him, i will be ecstatic.

Hilton Armstrong just looks too boring to make fun of.

Joey had every

chance to get on the court in Houston. He’s a 26 year old guy who can’t get it together at the NBA level. It’s sadly (probably) never going to happen for Dorsey.

If we hadn't signed Harris

I think Dorsey would be back. Maybe he can be a Viper again.

Several points

1. Dorsey returning = one of two things: either he rots on the bench, wasting a roster spot, or he takes minutes away from Jordan Hill, who has a much higher ceiling.

2. This upcoming draft, which we will have a good spot in, is big-man heavy. Thus, we can find someone as good, or better, than Dorsey, from the get-go.

3. Retaining Joey for the sake of a trade would be a waste since we have already traded him , and he was WAIVED, for bad conduct. Thus, other teams aren’t going to be interested in him in the basketball sense, and he doesn’t make enough money to make a trade work financially that wouldn’t work without him.

Thus, resigning Dorsey would probably just be a waste.

Wafer . . . again. (Marv Albert, HOU v. CLE Feb 2009)

Yeah, but I always want one guy that the other team is slightly, or truly, afraid of.

I’ve always thought Dorsey could be that guy. Would you want Dorsey to elbow you in the face? Think of it as Jazz Insurance.

Dorsey=Beast

Dunks Are great
and That gets the crowd pumped
Defense- he is good enough for people his size
he is huge not many people can beat him down low
the only ones that could beat probaly would be shaq or dwight
the games he played when they were posting him up they couldnt get any closer to the basket. it was funny because they tried so hard and they werent going no where.
