And the new person to pick on is......(POLL)

There was a post on here a while ago that asked who the we are going to pick on now that Brian Cook is gone. If you take a look at our roster for the rest of the season there is only one person that stands out. Not only is this person a disgrace to basketball players across the globe, he also gets regular playing time and its only because of a lack of depth. Starting to ring any bells? If you are thinking (drum roll please) Jared Jeffries then you have just won a million dollars (sike lol)! But on a serious note the guy really sucks and I really find it amazing he is in he NBA. He plays so soft, he can't finish at the rim even though he's 6'11, he's a total offensive liability and he struggles against size defensively. Can someone please find out where Kelvin Cato is? At least he was a good finisher at the rim. I think we here at The Dream Shake should give him hell as long as he is in a Rockets uniform. What do you think?

Poll
Should Jared Jeffries be the new person to pick on?

No, I say Armstrong.

Jeffries has legitimate uses. We’ve yet to determine what, if anything, Armstrong does better than Cook.

Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.

in my opinion

Armstrong actually looks like he can hoop, Cook on the hand just looks like a ninja turtle

I'm willing to be proven wrong.

It’s tough when two teams give up on one player in the same year. I hope we’re not the 3rd. There was once reason to believe Armstrong might be valuable. Who knows? The rest of the year is all we owe him.

Jeffries, by the way, played pretty good D when Hayes got into foul trouble.

yea but

he looks like a stoned frog and he just plays 2 soft for me. i say hive armstrong some more playing time to see what he can do, after all his contract does expire

Will Conroy!

But seriously, Hilton Armstrong looks like he took BC’s old spot at the end of the bench. Though I’d really like to see Rick give our good friend Jordan Hill some minutes in game situations…maybe then we can see him instead of “fouls like Joey Dorsey” Jared Jeffries.

In Daryl Morey, Rick Smith and Ed Wade we (usually) trust.

is the coach included in the poll?

by raong on Mar 5, 2010 5:36 PM CST reply actions

you what?

do not agree with OP at all.

Jeffries is a solid bench player

by elpizzysofresh on Mar 5, 2010 7:13 PM CST reply actions

Let’s keep the hating to a minimum on Jeffries. He’s going to be a useful expiring contract next year.

Take the Henry Abbott Challenge on Jared Jeffries

There’s a post on the TrueHoop blog , that may have its own fanshot, about Jared Jeffries knack to help his team win on D in ways that don’t necessarily show up in the box score (sound familiar?).

Obviously, this was when he was with the Knicks, but the guy can play.

Soft? I’ll bite. I’ve been surprised at how weak this guy is at guarding the post.

Offensively deficient? You betcha. Wingspan of a Giant Taratorn (I wikapedia-ed it) but can’t even finish at the rim.

Overpaid? Definitely. His contract is the reason the trade was possible.

But don’t tell me this guy doesn’t help us. He’s a playmaker on D, and I wouldn’t mind retaining him at a more reasonable price after his contract is up.

I agree 6'11" guys who can guard nearly any position well aren't exactly common.

It’s a rare and useful combo, and at a reasonable price, good to have around. I’d say our price, including everything is more than reasonable.

Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.

I Agree...

I would say he’s overpaid because, despite the fact he may justify his contract with the wins he could potentially add to a team, I don’t think he’d command this salary on the open market. Of course, I don’t know his reputation in front offices, but I’d wager his next contract won’t be this lucrative.

by flipasta on Mar 7, 2010 12:29 AM CST up reply actions

No way his next contract will be close to this one.

But getting Hill, and potentially a #6 and #2 pick? And no more McGrady to kick around?

Groovy.

the reason 4 this post

was because i think the new person we pick on should fit the brian cook look meaning he has 2 suck, has to look stupid, and be nearly useless. Jeffries fits all of these things. Armstrong at least doesnt look stupid but Jefries does.

by batman713 on Mar 6, 2010 9:54 AM CST reply actions

oh yea

must be overpaid which he is

by batman713 on Mar 6, 2010 9:55 AM CST up reply actions

just stop posting

maybe you should check out a different blog, if you wanna make posts about “picking” on home team players

by elpizzysofresh on Mar 6, 2010 9:10 PM CST up reply actions

we do...

but the argument is…this guy you’re calling ‘nearly useless’ is actually good. but he is a goofy looking guy.

by flipasta on Mar 7, 2010 12:24 AM CST up reply actions

when yao returns

i seriously doubt he will get much playing time because we will still have Big Dave Anderson we will resign Hayes and Scola and Jordan Hill is likely 2 develop so i stand by what i said he is nearly useless. the only reason he is not completely useless is because he plays defense. key word is nearly. i didnt say anything untrue

by batman713 on Mar 7, 2010 10:08 AM CST up reply actions

of course...

its basketball, not a beauty contest. i remember when i was a kid, my dad would always laugh at how ugly scottie pippen was. i never saw it, but ill admit…he’s no johnny depp.
