What's Scola's normal FT shooting %?

kevin martin...

he gets called for travel about twice every game, please do something about it Kevin.

What's a travel?

It’s never called consistently. Scola gets called, but usually doesn’t travel, his multiple moves off the same pivot confuses people.

They almost always call it on the perimeter when the player steps before dribbling though.

The difference Kyle makes-

if we hadn’t lost him and Ariza the last few weeks we would be in the playoffs right now

I’ve grown to hate Bullard. Clyde comes off as stupid, but I’m just so tired of Bullard’s corny bullshit.

At least Clyde's entertaining

Bullard is indeed very very corny…and he eats on the job what’s there more to say?

Wizards fans follow Rockets’ fans example of showing up halfway through the game. Arena’s starting to fill out a bit.

Good first half effort.

Although I think Martin could stand to take it inside more often, and Hill needs to teach Jeffries how to dunk it.

Oddly enough, AB’s capable of finishing them.

two that I recall

There was one weird one between him and Brent Barry (I know, right?). Then there was the court-length thing from Artest during the Mother’s Day game. Though I guess he finished that with a layup, rather than a dunk. I think it still counts, though.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 9, 2010 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

I do actually remember seeing a video of that one between him and Barry

it’s strange he can’t dunk normally but he can dunk an alloy-oop

We’ve got two interviews with David Thorpe basically saying Martin is a good defender when part of a committed defensive scheme.

He has all those crazy moves that usually succeed because of it. Those things are hell to defend.

The Dreamshake

I don't think they gave up on him

I think it’s just that Walsh really overvalues financial flexibility. There was some article on either Hardwood Paroxysm or FD last week about making the Knicks into a bank holding company.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 9, 2010 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

I suppose not, but there's still a sense he wasn't part of D'Antoni's plan, anyway.

He’s not very expensive at all. I guess he was the last piece to maybe get New York the ability to take two max deals?

They weren’t playing him much though, and this on a team that was clearly going nowhere. He got 255 minutes through, what, 40-50 games?

Required for Jeffries

to be taken off the Knicks hands is the way I heard it.

by jbars on Mar 9, 2010 8:29 PM CST up reply actions

I'm sure you're right.

It just seemed like they didn’t value him that highly, but maybe I’m wrong about that.

At any rate, he’ll learn to play his position much better here anyway, I’d say.

looks pissed everytime Martin doesn’t pass him the ball….. pretty funny

He's going to have to learn to live with it.

He did with Kobe.

I don't know where everybody gets this "Ariza looks pissed" thing

People said the same thing earlier in the season. He always has that same sleepy expression on his face.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 9, 2010 8:31 PM CST up reply actions

I didn't see it, actually.

I’ve had to duck in and out of this one, and am going to watch the whole thing at some later point.

I was just thinking that Martin and Brooks have to be 1 and 1a in most situations.

Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.

The Dreamshake

by Xiane on Mar 9, 2010 8:32 PM CST up reply actions

Ariza shouldn't really be holding the ball much

I would prefer him to be making plays w/o the ball. Now that we have Kevin Martin, Ariza (32%) really shouldn’t be taking any three pointers at all.

"Hip-Thrust!"

by hardgay on Mar 9, 2010 9:25 PM CST up reply actions

He’s actually not a bad three point shooter when he gets a wide open look with his feet set. He just needs to get a better sense of when to pass up the shot (which is most of the time) and when to take it.

by OremLK on Mar 10, 2010 6:13 AM CST up reply actions

I used to believe that, but he was still a 32% 3point shooter even with the Lakers when he only shot the ball while he was wide open.

Lowry's court vision

and timing for passes seems quite a bit better to me.

Brooks and Lowry have different skill sets.

If only they could be combined into one super PG…

Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.

The Dreamshake

by Xiane on Mar 9, 2010 9:00 PM CST up reply actions

Brooks made several impeccable passes which were not rewarded with assists because the assisted player missed an easy layup.

I honestly think they have similar passing skills and court vision. It’s just their approach that’s different. Brooks looks to shoot more of the time, while Lowry more often looks to draw the foul or set up his teammates.

by OremLK on Mar 10, 2010 6:15 AM CST up reply actions

this is completely off topic

but Artest shaved his head…weird

good team defense with lowry and ariza back.

would have like to have seen jordan hill post up a bit more, he had a few mis matches on him and we didn’t feed him. he has a nice jump hook and good touch around the rim. he had 2 thunderous dunks which was nice to see. 8 boards too; hello starting center??

by ressaliance_00 on Mar 9, 2010 9:14 PM CST up reply actions

Lowry's restricted

so signing him and Scola isn’t too much of an issue provided Les is willing to spend the cash.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 9, 2010 9:30 PM CST up reply actions

It's hard to see us not doing it.

And I think we’ll resign Scola as well as Hayes. With Yao back and healthy (we presume) there are no obvious weaknesses on this team and the depth is somewhat staggering.

Suppose Rockets go on a run

If the Rockets go on a decent run, finishing say 13-7,do you think they will go after a top player,or be content to just re-sign Lowry,Scola and see what happens with Yao?

by Tisbee on Mar 9, 2010 9:37 PM CST reply actions

If the opportunity presents itself

to do a sign-and-trade for another all-star, I can certainly see the Rockets doing it. Obviously depends on who it is and what is required in exchange, of course.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 9, 2010 9:39 PM CST up reply actions

Yao's never had a talent like Kevin Martin around before

so I doubt Morey will make any big changes without first seeing what the Rockets can do with Yao and Kmart.

"Hip-Thrust!"

by hardgay on Mar 10, 2010 1:13 PM CST up reply actions

He has played with a few guys at least as talented as Martin

McGrady – at least in his first few years here – was spectacular, and significantly better than Kevin will ever be. Francis had his issues, but he was a star, too.

Now, if you mean he has never had anyone as talented as Martin in the the ways Martin is talented, I agree. McGrady and Francis may have been as good or better than Martin, but they weren’t exactly efficient while in Houston.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 12, 2010 9:25 AM CST up reply actions

I really don't know

Do blocked shots count as turnovers or missed shots?

by jbars on Mar 9, 2010 9:52 PM CST reply actions

missed shots

and then a defensive rebound for the other team.

If you “block” a pass, it’s nothing, and whoever recovers it gets a steal.
