"What Geeks Don't Get"
Daryl Morey, Mark Cuban, Michael Lewis (author of Moneyball), the NE Patriots' Robert Kraft, and the Indianapolis Colts' (boo) Bill Polian chat about the limits of the "statistical revolution." Actually, they don't seem to talk about that very much - they mostly discuss how they apply stats and other "unconventional" methods to their teams, as well as what areas need to be studied further.
There's lots of good stuff here, including a little bit from DM on the Rockets' decision-making (there's a very interesting comment on his view of the value of player development in trades). But it's over an hour long, so be prepared.

I know this an old post now...
But I finally got around to watching it. My first reaction: Mark Cuban seems like the kind of guy you can only handle in doses (if you were his friend), but he’s not dumb. When he was talking about players’ psychological state and the way he weighted it makes you think those guys in Dallas know a thing or two about running an organization (despite the fact they’ve been avoiding scoring in the paint like its the plague).
I also thought it was interesting listening to Morey explain his philosophy on clutchness. It doesn’t seem like he doesn’t believe in it, it just seems like he doesn’t feel confident quantifying it.
And say what you want about Bill Simmons, but I loved his digs on Donald Sterling. That guy is a prick, and I’m glad he’s not in Houston.
