Now let's define the word realistic. Here we will define it as; a player semi available according to sources. So that would include guys like Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Gortat, along with the obvious ones like Bosh, Wade, etc.
So, if you were the GM of the Houston Rockets, what are the 3 moves you would do this offseason?
So, my 1st move would be to acquire Carmelo Anthony. I would trade Ariza, Hill, Andersen, Battier and a 2013 1st rounder for Carmelo. (To me, Denver might do it because it has been reported that they will trade Melo because they think if he doesn't sign the extension, then he will leave as a FA and they would like to get something out of him. Of course, if we traded for Melo, I would sign him to an extension ASAP).
My 2nd move would be to sign Brandon Haywood to a 2-3 year deal. Haywood proved last year that he can be a great rebounder and defensive player at the center position and can backup Yao, and occasionally start.
My 3rd move could go many ways. I would love to see CP3 here, but to me it is not worth it in this situation. For this threads sake, my 3rd move is actually to stay put. I could go out and trade Scola, Battier, Taylor, Jeffries and future picks to get Bosh but I wouldn't. I like the team the way it is like that and I would stay put. (By stay put, I mean make sure Lowry and Scola are resigned (if that counts as a move))
My Final Roster would look like:
PG - Brooks/Lowry
SG - Martin/Bud/Taylor
SF - Anthony/Jeffries/ (Mike Harris?)
PF - Scola/Patterson
C- Yao/Haywood/Hayes
Now I'm not sure if salaries worked there but I think they do. Anyway, if you had to make 3 moves this offseason, what would you do?
