When you thinking about this year Finals,the  08 series when Boston won may come to mind. For the  older generations, all the old Celtics and Lakers rivalries may come to mind. To me the two gifts come to mind. The first gift was when Memphis basically gave the Lakers  Pau Gasol, for his brother Marc,  who will never be as good. Gasol ended up being the clutch part, helping  the lakers win their first championship since the Shaq- Kobe era. Jerry West the laker great worked for the Grizz briefly, which played a part in the one sided trade for the Lakers. The other gift was from Kevin McHale to Danny Ainge. Now the Timberwolves got far more then the Grizz, with Al Jefferson being young, and showing promise of being one of the future greats. But at the time of the trade Garnett was arguably the best power forward in the game. Ray Allen also came in that year with Garnett, to help them win it all, but as shown last year without Garnett the Celtics are just another team. Before the trade and after Shaq left, Kobe was trying to do it by himself, which did not work. Kobe begged for some help, and said he may go play for another team if he gets no help. Gasol and Garnett were in the same boat, basically having to do it by theirselves. Garnett hada couple years when he had alittle help, but under Mchale he basically played by his self. Gasol really never had any help, playing on several bad Memphis teams.
