The Real T-Mac

Banged up shoulder, or an ole' case of the Irish flu, McGrady?

Recently everyone has been talking about T-Mac's legacy in Houston. To all of this die hard supporters- I'd like to share a little story:

Two seasons ago McGrady went down with an injury (knee, back, shoulder, who knows). Anyways, the Rockets management decided it would be best for McGrady to not travel with the team on road games so he could stay in Houston and rehab since we desprately needed him back before the end of the season. I was at a bar in midtown one night called saez and zukes (don't go there). The Rockets had a home game that night and were headed to Denver the next night to play the Nuggets. I go to school in Boulder and planned my trip back so I could see that game the next night. It was almost 2 am at the Houston bar when I noticed T-Mac had a table, he was sitting by himself. Being a huge Rockets fan, I went up in a completely non-star struck manner to say Hi and ask him how his rehab was going. He had a bottle of Crown Royal at the table and was piss drunk. Way to stay at home and "rehab", asshole.

I sat there at the Pepsi center the next night, reflecting on the subject as the Rockets got blown out by the Nuggets. McGrady was getting paid on the order of 18+ Million dollars that season. He didn't have to play in games anymore. He didn't have to travel with his team. He was told to take all the time he needed, just to get better. Its no wonder he never recovered from his injuries completely- he is the laziest person on the planet. I can't see how people are so forgiving of him. I have to spend 200 dollars a year on NBA league pass so I can watch the Rockets in CO. That made it extra frustrating when I had that watch the rest of that season and this last season knowing T-Mac was leaving all those rockstar team mates of his like Brooks, and Scola out to dry because he didn't give his best. Fine, if it's off season and you have millions of dollars- go make it rain and get all the bottle service you want. But when you're on medical leave during the season and are instructed to rehab yourself, all the while you have millions of fans around the world holding their breath waiting to hear good news about your status- lock it the fuck up.

P.S- A couple of weeks after the Rockets season ended I saw Battier and K-Low out together in midtown at shot bar (really, really, don't go there either) and talked to both of them for a little bit. They were both really cool and hilarious- especially Battier.

No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

So poetic

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.

feel free to finish the julius ceasar quote. Here’s another one: I came. I saw. I got injured… repeatedly.

I felt it was too beautiful to screw it up, ya know?

But given the urging

“The good that men do is oft interred with their bones. So be it for T-Mac. We seek not to praise T-Mac but to bemoan a legacy of bemoaning and squandered talent. Lo is it rarely seen such a bright star collapse under the weight of its sheer laze.”

Ron

What mitmil22 was trying to say, I think, is that just because T-Mac was having some drinks, getting drunk, at a bar doesn’t mean he wasn’t rehabbing. I mean, he can’t always be in the gym working his knee/back/shoulder. I’m sure Yao did this a few times as well. It’s just what superstars do, whatever they want to.

I had an ant farm once, but them fellas didn't grow shit

T-Mac had back problems genetically...it sucks because he could have been a better LeDouche...the next MJ?

the sad part is that he always had a drive to win it, but when, as the doctors predicted, he got older and couldn’t handle the back problems anymore, he lost some of that drive and passion…sad but true…so don’t hate on him, cherish the moments when he gave his youth and full effort to get us winning again…and remember, any of you would do the same if you were in his shoes…

ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're related by marriage

also, if you want to get technical about it, I’m sure every single ailment, disease, sniffle, disorder, or hitch in your step can be called genetic so that you can just forget about ever repairing it if it’s easier to deal with through denial/defeatism.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.

are they really related only by marriage

the parallels in their playing ability as well as their give-up-ness is truely amazing then. Honestly, I can easily see how they could be almost twins they way they have mad skills as well as give up and play “me first” with their attitude.

You have a guy who has had major knee surgery, after his back, toe nail and whatever else injury he had, missed a whole year or so rehabbing it, played limited minutes with limited success on a BAD new york team…and still thinks Chicago should sign him and treat him like a starter? Where do these guys get off. He must have some group of idiot friends from high school like LBJ etc…who keep pumping their egos and telling them they are gods. What a fuckin’ idiot. If you are that good, prove it and then resign after a one year contract for better money. The dude got 22 M from us for not playing. If he can’t be humble, fuck’em.

Grow Up you princess.

Thank you

I can’t begin to explain how annoying it is listening to these shameless defenders of t mac, that don’t even know that there are other team and players in the NBA other than the rockets. McGrady is a bum without a job and he deserves it.
