yep

I saw that coming. Now we should all see someone being added sooner or later as there is a roster spot now available.

GO ROCKETS, GO TEXANS, GO ASTROS (EVEN THOUGH THEY SUCK)!!!

I trust Feigen and I'm sure he's right

but I will always be wary of tweets that say “per source”

How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!

by ak2themax on Jul 28, 2010 3:30 PM CDT reply actions

Yes

but if Feigen’s source was wrong, then Stein is just retweeting a wrong statement.

Not that I don’t believe it. I do. Just saying…

How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!

by ak2themax on Jul 28, 2010 3:35 PM CDT up reply actions

i agree

my thought is that if stein retweeted it, then he knows its true…I could be wrong though

by EveryHoustonTeamRox! on Jul 28, 2010 3:38 PM CDT up reply actions

As some people think,

there may be more to this…We dumped a contract on TOR for just a pick? If so, I love it!

by EveryHoustonTeamRox! on Jul 28, 2010 3:38 PM CDT reply actions

I guarantee

Les loves it more.

The pick a 2015 second rounder, BTW (from chron). Could be useful in a future trade.

by rjg6891 on Jul 28, 2010 3:47 PM CDT reply actions

And a second round pick in the hands of Daryl Morey

is gold. Good stuff.

I bet David Anderson is loving it as well

He’s got a chance of actually getting some PT in Toronto.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

he will fit right in

Toronto is the worst defense in the entire NBA. Of course they’d want DA

come on be real,

does anyone like playing for Toronto? riding the pine making a mil or 2 in houston is still prolli 100x better than playing in toronto 30 mins a game.

well

it’s a pretty nice place, I hear.

by Only_A_Lad on Jul 28, 2010 5:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Toronto is home of the disgrunted players.

Vince Carter, Tmac, Hedo, Bosh…just a few names off the top of my head who wanted out.

Toronto

is friggin beautiful. Loved my time there.

Pick #Rockets receive is protected 2015 2nd rounder from LA Clippers. Rockets also sending cash (via Toronto Star) http://bit.ly/avTU7N

by EveryHoustonTeamRox! on Jul 28, 2010 3:54 PM CDT reply actions

How is that possible?

a 2015 2nd rounder from the Clippers? What’s even more wierd is that it’s protected from pick 51 to 55. Seems like if you wanted it protected, it would be in the first 5 picks of the 2nd round…not towards the end

by danielcp0303 on Jul 28, 2010 4:03 PM CDT up reply actions

DA's salary is $2.5M

so this actually clears $5M from the books because we don’t have to pay the tax on that as well right?

by jroberts5 on Jul 28, 2010 3:55 PM CDT reply actions

mostly correct

the tax won’t kick in until later, but figuratively this is correct

by grungedave on Jul 28, 2010 4:03 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldn't say it's huge...

I think if they could deal Jared Jeffries at the deadline, we would actually be under the luxury tax. Not too sure, but I think it’s pretty close

by danielcp0303 on Jul 28, 2010 4:08 PM CDT up reply actions

It's bigger than what we usually have

but it’s not huge. Only 5 million over. So they are basically 1 trade away from getting under, not too bad considering we get to keep Scola and Lowry, while adding Brad Miller

by danielcp0303 on Jul 28, 2010 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions

actually

We are $20M over the cap.
But only $5M over the luxury tax.

by grungedave on Jul 28, 2010 4:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly

Interesting to see if Les will spend the extra $10 million or will DM pull off another trade like this.

How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!

by ak2themax on Jul 28, 2010 4:19 PM CDT up reply actions

20 million over the cap, but that's a soft cap

the real cap is the luxury tax, which we can easily get under now.

by danielcp0303 on Jul 28, 2010 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions

sooo

that’s a pretty damn good deal. Les is being generous allowing the Rockets to keep Lowry, Scola and obtain Miller and shoot into luxury tax territory. Morey turns around and moves 2.5M in salary (and 2.5M in taxes) in our 3rd center when we have Hayes and Hill to play 3rd string center. And it allows us to bring in a younger player to develop. Maybe Ish Smith or Alexander Johnson? I like it a lot. Or it would allow more flexibility to make a trade at the deadline

by jroberts5 on Jul 28, 2010 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldn't hold my breath on filling that roster spot

we’ve done this kind of thing the past few years. Clearing out one last roster spot to turn around and pull the trigger on a deal that allows us to take in more than what we send out. We screw around with that last roster spot but by in large it’s more indicative of a trade at midseason or soon.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.

by BD34 on Jul 28, 2010 4:26 PM CDT up reply actions

DA might come around and be decent if he can get some more PT. Good Luck David. Since we got an open spot now, I know a former All Star that needs a home at a discounted price last name Mac, first name T.

eh what he do..

take some HGH and travel back in time 4 years? Come to think of it, he had a really short prime. didn’t really last very long in the league did he.

My fear is that the next domino to fall is Battier.

Useful player, not too expensive, expiring deal. I don’t like it, but I sort of expect it.

I hope so too. Truly.

I’m hoping Shane takes a cap friendly deal next and sort of turns into a player coach and retires a Rocket before he goes off to become a senator or whatever.

in this cut throat business and keep shane too. Hes done soo much for us, and never expected anything back in return.

Also goodbye to David Andersen.

You clearly have NBA skills. I’m sorry Houston didn’t work out for you, but you should get a real shot in Toronto, particularly if Davis isn’t ready.

Shaq

Would be a great pick up but with Yao coming back and Brad Miller I don’t think there is much room for him. I suppose if Yao gets another bad injury they should pick up Shaq until we can get a young center.

I’ve always wanted to see Shaq in a Rockets uniform, he would be very useful aginst the Lakers a Shaq/Miller frontcourt to battle with Gasol/Bynum. But at this point we’re dreaming, Yao better be healthy, he better stay healthy, and he better take us to the Western Conference Finals.

Rockets fans want revenge for ‘09. Every carry over Rocket’s player wants another shot at the Lakers. This time when the Lakers start getting beat in Game 2 and start playing dirty we will have the big guys to elbow them back. Luke Walton vs Luis Scola part 2 anyone? I can see it now. We’re gonna have a sweet season.

dude shaq remarks are all a joke,

the dude can’t play anymore. just can’t carry around 360+ lbs in the nba for 13+ seasons. hes slow, his great touch is gone, defense liability on pick and rolls, can’t defend a man face up, has trouble getting any sort of lift. This is a 37 year old shaq, not dikembe, his body is just too big to support at that age.

by AK1111 on Jul 29, 2010 1:39 PM CDT up reply actions

what?!?

“I’ve always wanted to see Shaq in a Rockets uniform”

then you and I can never be friends. ;-)

by grungedave on Jul 30, 2010 3:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Knowing our luck

Shaq in a Rockets uniform would end up in another horrible “Shaq Vs.” show and Kobe managing to explode every game we play them just to rub it in his face. Also, as pointed out, Shaq is a shell of what he used to be. Gives a hell of an interview but it’s all about him, which if you want to sodomize what we’ve built in the concept of team, he’s perfect. No chance he comes to Houston though, and thank God.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
