Why does everyone act like we suck?
In light of the news that Chris Bosh is probably going to Miami, I initially felt a little down. Then, I realized that to feel anything but optimism for next season is irrational.
Remember the Rockets team that took the eventual-champion Lakers to seven games in the playoffs last year? Think about what we've gained and lost since then:
Lost
- Ron Artest i.e. the lockdown defender who kept Kobe at bay. Wait, wasn't that Shane Battier? Don't we still have him?
- Carl Landry. OK, pretty big loss, I'll admit.
Gained
- Trevor Ariza i.e. a younger, less crazy Artest-level defender who can knock down key shots and is a monster slasher.
- Kevin Martin i.e. the perimeter threat we always lacked, a ridiculously efficient and creative scorer.
- The development of Aaron Brooks & Kyle Lowry into one of the best point-guard duos in the NBA. That MIP award speaks for itself.
- A reconstructed Yao Ming whose knee surgery will hopefully follow precedent (Ilgauskas) and last an entire series this time around.
- Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Jermaine Taylor... you get the idea
Personally, I think if we don't do anything but resign Lowry and Scola this off-season, we'll still be in the mix to go deep into the playoffs and contend for a title.
No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

Do you like this story?

yao got foot surgery
but yeah i agree with this. i think kevin martin is the perfect fit to play with yao. we’ll be in the bonus most of the game
We're looking good
I’m happy all the big free agents are moving or staying in the East. We have a solid team, lets lock up our guys and get Miller.
we have been and continue to be great
we were basically a playoff team in the East this past season without Yao.
Add in a team that is just learning to play together, getting Yao back, adding in Patterson and the growth of Bud, Hill, et al…and you have a pretty awesome team.
And, as I have said before…FA is just starting, lots can change and pieces can move.
If we were to pick up Al Jeff how would this story change? How wold the team now and if we got Al Jeff line up against the Lakers and newly reconstructed Heat? Pretty damn good.
Bosh would have been nice but im happy that we get to see the young guys develop, who knows maybe one of them will surprise us this season. I just hope Scola or Lowry dont get some stupid offer.
remember how much Brooks and Lowry both grew once under Aldeman etc...
Bud had some awesome games last year and shows tons of upside as does Hill etc…
I am torn between winning now….getting Yao at least pretty freakin close to a ring and/or trading our young talent for experienced/developed stud that can help us win now
the great thing is we have assets to trade and still keep a young future bright
just everyone exhale…we are going to be freaky good this year….just wait to see what Bud, Hill and Patterson can suprise us with…
Martin and Brooks playing more together for the first time…Yao back posterizing Bosh etc…
I'm excited too
We’ve got 4 NBA rotation players on our summer league team, thats crazy! They better win all their games though.
I swear to God
if I see any of the people I’ve butt heads with over the last two weeks talk about how they think we’re set I’m gonna blow a f*cking gasket.
I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
I think I’m going to be sick if I keep reading the same thing over and over and over.
The worst and most overused part is where we took LA to 7. Oh god, everyone knows we did.
I’m just saying this post might not have been necessary? lol
again with the ban hammer? do you have other "premature" problems that you need to tell us about?
kidding of course…well sort of…
dacodeman…if you hadn’t noticed almost all of the posts are the same things over and over again.
How many times BD34 and I written about not wanting to trade for Bosh if it meant giving up too much stuff. It was like a billion times or something. It goes with the territory.
You can always reply like Tom when he gets frustrated: He. Just. Writes. Everything. Like. This.
Hahaha
I love these ban hammers. Every time it actually makes me laugh out loud.
Yeah, I know. I guess I just read too much into a tone of something written.
I read people’s posts and they make it sound like its the first time it’s came up in discussion. Not pointing anyone out but I guess the member who posted this.
But yeah, I was just saying.
We dont suck
But yao is still an unknown. He could come back beast mode or not come back at all…ala tmac.
We all saw how last season went without yao. It would have been nice to get another big who can carry the team if something does happen to yao.
Also I agree with tom in that Bosh was the guy who would have put us over the top. We would have been better with him than without him.
We are a good team and on any given night we are good enough to push the best of them. What im not certain of right now is that we can hang with the best of them in an extended 7 game series.
Rockets aren't winning anything anytime soon
