that's great news
finally recognition from the media. wouldn’t it be sweet if the rockers destroyed them?
yes it would be very sweet
I could have diabeties watching it. I hope AB goes off for 50 on Fisher.
GO ROCKETS, GO TEXANS, GO ASTROS (EVEN THOUGH THEY SUCK)!!!
It would be sweet but.....
I dont see us not winning and hearing the media talk about which trade was better Ron or Ariza, and is this Yao’s last season cause he didnt get 20/10 numbers.
^
You know what, I think it will be in Houston. The last home opener we played the Lakers (07-08) in LA and stomped them if anyone doesn’t remember. So I think there is a good chance we’ll open in Houston. Everyone better be ready. I don’t care about last year. I want revenge for ’09. Mark my words, The Rockets are going to come out with some fire when we open.
Speaking of the home opener in LA (08) I’ve always thought that it was McGrady’s last game, even though he played in the Playoffs aginst Utah that year. In that game McGrady and Kobe went after each other and even the announcers said McGrady was on par with Kobe the entire game. Kobe had more points but McGrady got it done with teamwork. Later on that season he hurt himself and never seemed to ever play with the same intensity, passion, and athletic skill. To me it is one of the all time classic Rockets games, although I really don’t remember ever hearing anyone mention it ever again.
isn't that the game
where Shane hit a three late to break a tie? We were up most of the game and the Lakers came back,
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
great game ;)
we shoulda won in regulation but they have Kobe and weird stuf happens, but we pulled it out
Rockets-Texans-Dynamo-Longhorn fan.. used to be Astros too, but not sure there a pro team anymore
I think the Rockets win it
Chip on our shoulders, inspired team, and if anyone has read Lowry’s twitter, at least one of our players is busting his ass and I feel as though what speaks for Kyle speaks for the Rockets.
I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
we're gona show everyone we're back
and we’ll display that daunting depth on national tv.. teams will take notice

Game will almost certainly be in LA
they’ll be getting their rings that night.

Prolli, also NBA prolli wanna give LA the home court advantage anyways,
they prolli wanna start the season with LA win so all the banwagon fans can be proud of their lakers.
OMG I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THE LAKERS
I love Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe the Lakers.
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
it is the best way to start the season after all,
give the fans what they want.
Maybe this is the year
I see a Laker “fan” at TC wearing something other than a Kobe jersey.
Hey, it could happen.

I would have bought a Morrison jersey
but alas, they’re not gonna pick up his option.
I would buy a Pau jersey if he played from the Rockets and was named Luis Scola.
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
Maybe LA will play ALL its games at home this year.

hey its by far the best source of revenue for NBA.
High ticket prices, packed with celebrities every nite, winning team.
The NBA obviously chose a Lakers-Rockets opener because of number of international fans.
Especially in China. Plus, their isn’t much animosity between L.A. and Houston so this is a safe bet for the NBA.

exactly, Huge opening day ratings to squeeze networks to pay up more for their
next NBA tv contract.
one question
did you even watch the ‘09 playoffs? At least for Rocket fans, since we lost the series, there was plenty of animosity started. Shane vs. Kobe: "He can’t guard me!" Sure whatever Kobe. Then the Trevor, Ron-Ron “swap” and hilarious shoe incident, only Ron. Fisher’s foul on Scola. Kobe hitting knees with Yao to cause the injury (that was Kobe right?).
I personally don’t hate the Lakers. But after that crazy series last year I sure don’t mind when they lose either.
But the NBA got it right with this one. A Rockets/Lakers game is always a good show.

There's always some tension between two playoff opponents.
The 09’ series was no different. Teams with which the Lakers DO have animosity with would be Boston and Denver.

this has nothing to do with basketball
but I want to point out that after being somewhat impressed that someone on the internet constructed a prepositional phrase correctly (“Teams with which the Lakers DO have animosity” instead of ’teams the lakers do have animosity with"), it was pretty hilarious (to me, anyways) to see it followed up with a “would of.”
With this post, I do decree
a smackdown of the grammar variety is in session.

lol I kept rereading it my post over and over..
I just couldn’t figure out how to word it.

Kobe says that shit about everybody that guards him,
remember Raja Bell in the old Phoenix series? That was worse, they were cloth lining each other on the court.
off topic, but did anyone read that yahoo article on shaq?
Bad article as usual by this dimwit, but the commentators are hilarious. Tho i think they are all kids or laker fans since no one remembers Hakeem’s era when he used to be one of the best all around players (passing, blocks, rebounds, scoring, steals). But i couldn’t post about hakeem, they are very aggressive bunch just flaming at anything.
Yeah, I don't know if I'd call KD a dimwit.
I would call him an overly ornate writer, but not a dimwit.

Funny how
we went from barely being inserted into the national broadcoast rotation at the last minute this past season, to being one of the marquee matchups to kick off the season. FINALLY km12 is gonna start getting the respect he deserves (that is, if he can score consistently against Kobe / Artest / Barnes).

Yup
thought the same thing. Who knew having an international star on the team actually helps TV ratings, huh.

It looks like
our home opener is October 30th against Denver; that is an NBATV game, and I assume we play the 26, then 27 or 28 (against another west coast team), and then the 30th. Just some speculation, though.

Good
we didn’t have a single game on TNT last year. Really missed Ernie, Charles and Kenny’s “analysis” on us.

what analysis?
Charles talks outta his ass 90% of the time. Ernie is just the moderator and has no opinion on bball. Charles on the show for pure entertainment rather than actual analysis. More of a jester. But I have to admit i do enjoy watching their show, its very entertaining.
