Predict The 2011 NBA Playoffs
David Arnott over at Rufus On Fire had this bright idea to poll our readers on who they think would make the playoffs before the season started. Brilliant, eh? Anyway, after the jump, fill out the survey by selecting eight teams in each conference and clicking submit.
Have at it.

I see Phoenix over Denver or even maybe Dallas. I see Dallas slipping this year.

Very close to mine
In the east I had NY over NJ and Atlanta over Charlotte, but the se picks in the west
Same except
I picked Atlanta over NJ in the east and Phoenix over Denver.
I still think NJ is still too young, but they will improve greatly this year (though that’s not saying much). I know Phoenix is getting old, but they looked to me like the deepest team in the playoffs last year. That coupled with all this pre-season strife for Denver makes me think the Nuggets will be on the outside looking in.

It’d be nice to see an 8 see CLE take on the 1 seed MIA in the first round of the Eastern Playoffs. I think ESPN might send a few reporters out to cover that matchup.. Ya think?

Doesnt this make everyone realize
how the East is absolutely smothered in weaksauce?
by theSpaceCityKid on Aug 31, 2010 1:28 PM CDT reply actions
they're really top heavy
whereas the West is fairly evenly spread out. From 1st all the way to 12th. No major drop off in talent like the east.
"If I had to pick a center [for an all-time best team], I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position. It's not just his scoring, not just his rebounding or not just his blocked shots. People don't realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court. For all facets of the game, I have to give it to him." -Michael Jordan

quick question
Do we actually get to find out the results of the poll?
Or do we just get to have fun with clicking boxes
Clicking boxes isn't fun enough for you?
We try. We really do.

normally it would be
But somehow im in the mood for a diagram.
I fully support this inquiry
into why we can’t see the results.

so I picked the following:
East:
Boston (fucking pierce!)
Miami (LaDouche and the Douchettes)
Bucks (Go Bucks….underdog teams are fun to cheer for)
Atlanta (boring old great but underperforming talent story goes on…desperately need to shake up this team)
Chicago (Boozer and Co will make an already decent team pretty damn good, unfortunately)
Orlando (will underperform again for sure…trade Lewis and get a new coach already)
The tie between Charlotte, Detroit and NYC. I gave it to Charlotte mainly cause I hate all of the newish players on Detriot (overpaid Gordon and Charlie V) and the dumbest owner, coach, player combo in the NBA in NYC (Dolan, Dantoni, Amare)
Does anyone have anything to break the three way tie between Charlotte, Detroit and NYC?
Western :
Rockets (obvious, kick ass reasons)
Lakers (obvious, unfortuntately kick ass reasons)
OKC (great young energetic team with Longhorn favorite Durant)
Portland (always loved this team IF they are healthy they are awesome…a big IF)
Utah (really really sad but true…Big Al Jeff will replace Boozer if healthy)
Dallas (buying talent like the Yankees continues…most likely again this soft team fades come playoff time)
Again at the bottow, had a hard time with SA, Phonenix and Denver. of the 3, SA is mostly like the favorite…despite their core talent being old All Jeff, and new SG and PF from last year are going to bring some energy to the old big 3.
Phoenix we will just have to wait and see. Amare was a decent loss but they added some other talent so we will see if they can pick up the slack.
Denver, just cant think they are getting any better and are getting older, even with Melo not leaving. The thug, chaos model isn’t working, even with Chauncey leading them. Could suprise on the upside but don’t think the discipline and professionalism is there to take them over the hump. Melo is not a total player and can’t pull his above average team over the hump to beat teams like LA and Boston or Miami.
