Melo w/out the extension

This might be me thinking way to deep about the situation but could any of you guys maybe see Morey trading for Melo before the season starts without the extension only to trade him again to another team before the trade deadline in feburary? In that situation, Houston wouldn’t have to give Denver too too much since it’s his last year, and perhaps we could cash in on Melo more (since Morey is a genius and has good connections) at the trade deadline by trading him to a borderline playoff team or to raise ticket sales like Indiana who might have to sell if they don’t do something drastic.

So in this instance we wouldn’t be getting much for Melo if we trade him in February, but we wouldn’t have to give up much right now if indeed we did get him before the season starts (maybe just Jeffries/Battier and a pick). Take a chance either way, one way being safe but the other way perhaps having more upside if Morey does it right. And we all know Morey likes to have his options even with a small risk involved. So we got lots of options here. Does all that make sense?
