I didn't realize that Portland hasn't won in Toyota Center since '07

I don't normally like Simmons
but I loved his description of what ESPN Portland would look like:
“ESPN Rip City” — Wall-to-wall Blazers coverage delivered in the most ingratiating way possible for those soccer mom fanatics from Portland. That’s right, gushing hyperbole about every Blazer combined with vitriolic attacks on every media member who dares to cross them! Running features include, “Brandon Roy vs. Michael Jordan: Closer Than You Think,” “Why Wesley Matthews Was a Bigger Summer Signing Than LeBron” and “Oden vs. Durant: This Isn’t Over Yet.”

by ressaliance_00 on Jan 5, 2011 10:14 PM CST up reply actions
I think I read somewhere
That players on the Rockets don’t tape their ankles as much compared to other players. The downside are the large amount of ankle injuries we see here.
The upside is that it’s been felt by some that players these days overtape their ankles. The result is that while over the short-term you may not sprain your ankles, in the long term that force starts impacting your knees, meaning that eventually your knees end up like T-Mac.
Minnesotan Rockets fan
6'6 guy as the primary back-up to Yao? and now our starting center?
and we expect to get into the playoffs
sorry, I’m ranting, I’m just so pissed at the loss. We should have won the game
we didn't even make a play for fesenko
we drafted a 6’9’ guy rather than a taller guy
when Yao went down, we made no moves …
feel bad for guys like Martin and Scola who try to bring it every night; trade them to contenders so they can get a chance at a ring
Oh, for freak's sake
Fesenko was restricted, and I don’t think he’s better than Hayes
Rule 101 of Drafting: best player available, not need. Not to mention really, 6’9’’ post defenders exist.
And you don’t go “panic, panic, big man at any cost” at any point. You have to be patient, or you will be ripped off. See Donnie Walsh last year. Not to mention you need a good big man, and someone who has brains. Otherwise, you might as well just keep using Hayes.

Unfortunately, I know plenty of people happy about that…
I know some of those people.
You know, I’d thought about it. But I’m actually more interested in commentating games. NBA games, well probably not, only Doris Burke’s ever made it, and I know plenty of people hate her. But I think it would be really great to break into college ball or the WNBA, at the beginning.
I’m going into broadcast journalism, so maybe with a little luck it may happen. Never know! I try to watch and pay attention to as much professional broadcasting as possible. I’m afraid Clyde and Bullard are affecting me. :)
If that doesn’t work out, I’m just going to go into print sports journalism.

most of the time, she’s pretty good. I guess the only beef is that she never played men’s basketball, as if that’s her fault. But don’t listen to me. a second chance?
He’s injured. Have you ever had a stress fracture? Had one in one of my toes once. Could barely walk for months.
As for next year, count me in with those that think Yao’s coming back. He’ll be a Rocket for a much lower value.
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
I agree, but lets not worry about Yao for next yr. Lets try to get something good for him in a trade.

Then resign him in the summer

that was one of the worst games to watch
jordan hill is just not good enough
going for 2 with 13 seconds left was terrible
It was sure frustrating
Particularly wasting Kevin’s big night and going away from him in the forth.

I'd give up a lot to get Love

So would I
But you never know when Love will rear it’s head. It comes and goes as it pleases.

More comes than goes
I’d say. He was beasting it again tonight. I’d just hate to see his career go like Garnet’s stuck on that bad team for years wasting away his youth. Thing of how many title’s Garnet could have won if had demanded a trade sooner. Not saying Love is Garnet of course.

I really don't give a damn anymore.
We choke in the fourth quarter to a team on back to back road games.
Coach Sleepy refuses to play T-Will more than 6 minutes, which is still making me scratch my head.
Kevin Martin perfectly shows why he is not a closer.
Jordan Hill needs to be benched.
B-Mills needs to stop getting a tech in every single fucking game.
Patrick Patterson needs more playing time.
Terrence Williams needs much much more playing time.
The NBA now knows Luis Scola is always going right, and it has showed in the last couple of games. He needs to develop his off hand dribbling skills, or these type of games will continue.
LaMarcus Aldridge is a stud.

T Will has skills
but he’s wreckless. Ball stops when he’s in the game, still needs to learn more of the offense. He’ll get more time later in the season

He's not that wreckless.
He may hog the ball sometimes, but he creates for himself and for other guys. He’s shown that he is a great passer and that he can get into the lane at will. In his brief showing tonight, they ran a pick and roll with him, he got into the lane, and gave C-Lee a wide open 3 point shot. This guy needs more playing time.

I agree.
But the question is does the D and the good outweigh the bonehead and the “pounder” tendency? Not just yet, but soon, I’d say, with PT.

Not sure what's up with all the "T-Will needs more playing time"
I seem to remember the Blazers beginning to take the lead in the second quarter when he was playing.
Minnesotan Rockets fan
False.
They took the lead after he went out. He had a +/- of 1, the best +/ of the bench players by a good margin.

This is just shameful
On the ESPN NBA page.
Kings blow Martin’s 45 points as Blazers hold on
The Kings? Worse loss of the season.

And they change it/
ESPN just discovered Houston has an NBA team.

I can't believe that was completely accidental...

You speak truth
Morey never fails to absolutely own the trade-deadline. I just hope it isn’t too late.
