Im glad that Alexander is looking to take some sort of action
It would be great if that ended up in Stern resigning. Go get’em Alexander!

It's common place to consult lawyers in the NBA, they do PR work as well as suits.
It’s not likely the Rockets are pursuing legal action for the same reason you don’t take a crap on your dining room table. The Rockets are a league team and they’re not going to sue their own league.
My beingadick-butnotbeinganannoyingdick skills, they're impressive.

I understand that
I just wish they can put some sort of pressure on Stern. Just as a rockets fan, I would love that. Not sure if its possible though.

Also stern is insane
The league wanted Martin, Scola, PPat, Dragic and Lowry for Pau Gasol.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/217582/NBA_Wanted_Rockets_To_Also_Include_Lowry_Patterson_For_Gasol
That's not all.
Sources report the League also asked for Section 120 of Toyota Center, the Red Rowdies, the rights to the highlight reel of Tracy McGrady scoring 13 in 35, and any future championships the Rockets could possibly win.

So they wanted our 2 best PFs and 2 best PGs and our best scorer in addition to a first round pick
That wouldnt be fine if we were getting Chris Paul by himself.

And instead they got
a short younger version of Kevin Martin, a really good pick in next year’s draft, and some throwaway players. But at least the throwaway players are young and cheap. Stern absolutely hosed the Hornets.
by Bobbythegreat on Dec 15, 2011 11:31 PM CST up reply actions
No way
The deal they got is better than the one the Lakers and Rockets were offering. There is less money tied up. While Gordon certainly isnt a future star, he is atleast a very talented young player. Aminu may turn into a playuer as well. Theyre getting 10 mill off the books instead of receiving long term contracts and a likely top 3-5 pick. They got a better deal and way to much for a guy that was leaving anyways.
Did you know Eric Berry was asexually produced by Chuck Norris?
by darwithabar on Dec 16, 2011 12:04 AM CST up reply actions
I would rather have that deal than Pau Gasol
I would trade our package plus Pat for that package just for Gordon and the almost automatic top 5 pick, if not first overall.
Did you know Eric Berry was asexually produced by Chuck Norris?
by darwithabar on Dec 16, 2011 12:07 AM CST up reply actions
We aren't going to be a top 5 pick, dammit.
Quit acting like the Puppies are automatic losers. I predict we’ll give the Hornets something like the 11th pick, and that team can have the glee of picking a role player.
You’re also forgetting that Gordon is going to get paid at the end of this season, too, and Canis Hoopus more or less pointed out that Eric Gordon’s career is suspiciously similar to Al Jefferson when he was first traded to the puppies.
Minnesotan Rockets fan
Keep in mind
Minnesota can improve by 10 wins and still be picking in the top 6, going by last year’s standings. The Wolves are bad. They’re bound to get better simply by regression to the mean (pythag record put them at 24 wins last year, after all), but they’re not a good team. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if they leave the basement for the proverbial basement stairway, but it’s also very possible they continue to completely collapse.
I’m suspicious of Gordon. He doesn’t strike me as a burgeoning star so much as a burgeoning excellent starter, but we’ll see. Eric Gordon’s pending extension may be problematic for the Hornets going forward depending on if he actually develops into a star.
I heart Gordon
He’s a stud. Just because he’s not flashy, doesn’t mean he won’t be a perennial All-star.
Eric Gordon may not necessarily be the type of guy to carry a team all by himself—really, how many players can you really say that about?—but he’s an efficient scorer, plus-defender, hard worker and humble guy. Basically, he can do what KMart and Courtney Lee do, and I’d trade them both and throw in some other youngsters in a heartbeat.
I think he compares favorably to a young Joe Johnson. You might not want to offer him a max contract, but I think he can be a great #2 guy on championship-caliber team.
by Moochie's Fro on Dec 16, 2011 3:33 PM CST up reply actions
This sucks
Because we will have to deal with him for a long time. That guy is going to be better than people think.
I hate david stern!
I don't see how he is any different than Kmart
besides the fact that he is really too small to be playing SG. He is basically a really efficient scorer who can’t play defense.
by Bobbythegreat on Dec 16, 2011 9:30 PM CST up reply actions
The reason why it wasn't a better trade than the Lakers 3 way
Is that the Hornets could’ve still shed all that money. They could’ve flipped one, two or all of those high salary players. They could’ve had picks and young talent out the wazoo. That Minny pick by the way, don’t be surprised if it’s 10-14. Rick Adelman will do wonders for that team.
by twinkilling0303 on Dec 16, 2011 12:09 AM CST up reply actions
Exactly
if they wanted scrubs and picks they could have taken the 3 team deal with the Knicks pick and then flipped Odom, Martin, and Scola in individual deals to secure even more first round picks then sign scrub FA’s to small deals and take the #1 overall pick in the next draft to go along with the ones they picked up.
by Bobbythegreat on Dec 16, 2011 12:14 AM CST up reply actions
They would've cleaned up
now they just have to hope and prey the T Wolves don’t get better
by twinkilling0303 on Dec 16, 2011 12:16 AM CST up reply actions
I think the Wolves wont be as bad as people think.
They do have Adelman, and he finds ways to win with what he has. And he has some great players there.
Cleveland, Toronoto, Charlotte and Utah will probably be worse than them, so the pick might not be as valueable as people think.

Seams like the Rockets are still going after Dalembert
Im sure we are the only team that is willing to pay him more than $5million/year. I guess the question becomes how much and for how many years, then its just a matter of time until he is the starting center for the Rockets.
"We have interest in Sam," Morey said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "If it makes sense for him and us, we would love to have him.
"It’s in negotiations. Between the two of us looking for a fit. He’s got a lot of options and we’ll see if it makes sense here."
I think if we dont offer more than $8 million for at least 2 years, he will sign with the Heat.
It's Plan D100,927
Sign Dalembert to a 1 yr $8mil deal.
In Feb trade Martin to Minn and Dalembert to Miami for Miller.
:)
No way I would want Miller on the Rockets, waste of space

I wouldnt trade Scola to the Spurs, Mavericks, or Grizz
The pick we would get from SA wouldnt really be that high, they had the best record in the West last season. They have a lot of old bodies so they might not be first, but they are top five for sure so their pick wouldnt intrigue me as much.

As it stands, I think the idea of free agency needs to get out of our way.
As it stands, Dalembert seems interested by anything longer than a single year isn’t intelligent. The team is pretty evidently young and the front office seems keen on moving Martin and Scola (Known commodities as pointed out by my colleagues) and if we can’t do it for a franchise style player, we should/would flip them to get younger. I think McHale is impressed with Hill and Thabeet, which I am excited for. We’ll see tomorrow against San Antonio.
My beingadick-butnotbeinganannoyingdick skills, they're impressive.
-TCWIR paraphrased
I don't really like Dalembert
I just mentioned him because of the interest Morey has in him. I think it would only make sense as a one year deal.
by twinkilling0303 on Dec 16, 2011 10:56 AM CST up reply actions
Depends.
If we had a franchise guy, Dalembert makes sense because he shuts down the lane. Without a primary guy to build around, he’s just a masturbatory measure preventing us from moving up in the draft.
My beingadick-butnotbeinganannoyingdick skills, they're impressive.
-TCWIR paraphrased
Not going to happen.
Nobody left on the market would be worth going past the ~$7 million we have left. Thabeet’s contract was the only one even considered.
The only players definitely on contract for next year are Martin, Scola, Morris, and Lowry. Everyone else has a team option, is an RFA (Lee), or will be a UFA (Dragic).
Feigen just ruled out the amnesty
Not that there is any reason to make amnesty cut now, but on amnesty deadline day Hasheem Thabeet is practicing with Rockets, won’t be cut.
by twinkilling0303 on Dec 16, 2011 11:38 AM CST up reply actions
Barring a major trade necessitating cap space, no one should have expected the amnesty.
His contract is a team option next year which makes him a 5 million dollar expiring contract if we don’t like what we see. Amnestying an expiring contract rather than trying to deal it or getting a chance to look at what you pay for is just plain stupid.
My beingadick-butnotbeinganannoyingdick skills, they're impressive.
-TCWIR paraphrased
Amnestupid
Why is anyone still talking about using the amnesty provision at this point?
Do they think having Les Alexander pay Thabeet’s salary to not play for the Rockets is somehow a positive on its own? Would they like the Rockets to use the additional cap room to offer Dalembert a $12MM/yr contract?
For what reason are people suggesting the Rockets burn $5MM?
by Moochie's Fro on Dec 16, 2011 3:24 PM CST up reply actions
Just to clarify
I was just posting what Feigen said, I wasn’t thinking it was going to happen or should happen.
by twinkilling0303 on Dec 16, 2011 3:39 PM CST up reply actions
I'm not calling you out... there were previous posts talking about using it
The main reason the Rockets would use the amnesty is to make room under the cap to sign a big FA. And there just ain’t anybody left out there.

He's been married longer than people think.
Everyone likes to say prenup, but assuming you’re 1) not old and 2) attempting to have a good marriage it’s fairly difficult to say
“Hay, I totally love you and want to spend my life with you, and want you to be the mother of my children, but let’s be honest, these things often don’t work out, especially given my lifestyle, and really, you shouldn’t get any of my money. You ok with that deal, flame of my heart?”
Also California has a long and rich history of prenups being destroyed in court. Basically nobody wants to let anyone get away with contracting away the general rules of marriage that apply to everyone else. Also, the men in these things are generally such utter shits that they lose even though legally their case was sound.
"Each in turn... volunteered his suggestions, his invaluable suggestions."
He was 20 years old I think and already making a lot of money
so it’s not very smart. Many rich people have had prenups, and had their marriage last. It might be one thing to ask, but it would probably be a red flag if she wouldn’t sign one.
