So Who Is Going To Be The New Favorite Whipping Boy?
No more Aaron Brooks to throw stones at. No more Tracy McGrady to kick around for being injured. Terrence Williams is starting to silence some haters. So just who is going to be the guy who most people are going to bitch and moan about all season (unless traded of course)?
The Candidates:
Kevin Martin...Why?
Since "the trade that never was" happened people have accused him of whining and complaining (I still don't see how anything he said came across as whining). A number of guys want to see him traded and they use this as a reason. Meh.
Hasheem Thabeet...Why?
Yep the guy people complain about because it's his fault for being drafted second overall in the 2009 NBA Draft. It's his fault for being drafted by an incompetent franchise who's player development staff is a bit shaky (O.J. Mayo anyone?). The guy who people refuse to give a fair evaluation or a chance to show what he can do before writing him off.
Johnny Flynn...Why?
Another 2009 lottery pick who had a serious hip injury that people choose to ignore just to call him sorry. The guy who led the team in assists this preseason despite averaging less minute than the two PG's ahead of him. Another guy people will bash for being a 6' point guard regardless if skill.
Terrence Williams...Why?
Well the guy is going to be bash for being Terrence Williams if nothing else. He is one of those guys who will be hated on no matter how good he performs.

Of course it's Hasheem Thabeet...
and of course it’s not his fault he was drafted so high… But when organizations make huge mistakes like Memphis did, they are usually stuck with a huge matter waste of space and 5 million against their cap. Our organization decided to bail out Memphis, and give them get out of jail free card. Not only did they exonerate Memphis of their ****-up, they gave them a highly coveted veteran with an expiring contract. And yes all it took was Jeff (tin man) Green and Nenad Kristic to get Kendrick Perkins (I’m still bitter because he would have re-signed here in Houston and has lost a lot of weight and will help OKC go to the finals).
As for the “whipping boy” notion…. I think there’s a dark horse contender that’s worth mentioning, and that’s Dalambert. I’m sure multiple times we will hear, Chuck Hayes would have done this or that better…. When the truth is, every rebound Dalambert gets would have been a mild upset for Hayes.
If you can feel them, they are real.
Good points,
Memphis was able to develop Gasol, and Conley. And even though Gay was good coming in the NBA he has also improved. memphis drafted Thabeet with the intentions of him and Gasol being the frontcourt for many years to come. Thabeet could not get it then and still cant get it. With a solid veteran center with Dalembert and Hill showing signs of being of pretty good player, Thabeet is either traded this year , or just let go after the season.

dalembert
people will complain that he doesn’t change us from out of playoffs to playing in the nba finals.
T-Will. I shall enjoy it, as he is our "saviour"

Should probably be Martin because of his contract and his subpar defense
and his existence taking away playing time from Courtney Lee

I vote Batman the new whipping boy.
Mostly because he’s guaranteed to still post here regardless of which player gets chosen. I mean, can’t fault a guy for being utilitarian, can you?
Also, it’s legitimately Martin. I have a feeling this team will demand more accountability defensively that he’s not likely to provide and he’s looked out of place on the offense in the two preseason looks. As for not seeing what comments could have come off as whiny, just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there, ask my family every time they ask me to search the fridge for something.

I'd go with either Martin or Bud.
"Hakeem couldn't kick your ass cuz you were too
close kissin his!"- Sir Charles to Kenny Smith.
Martin.
I generally like everybody on this roster, but as the season progresses I can see myself getting fed up with this guy if the preseason is any indication of what is come come.
Budinger
but I will keep him at his price. Martin and Scola will be the guys chosen here because people want to see a roster full of second hand projects (even though they have more proven talent than 90% of the roster). I just would like to see Twill and Morris hold down the SF position.

Has been and always will be
Thabeet.
K-Mart for second place.
Flynn is third for reasons I will never understand.

That's an easy one.
Anyone whose currently on the Houston Rockets will easily become the whipping boy.
Hell, we’ve all turned on Speed Racer already after seeing just two preseason games. Maybe he’s struggling a little or feeling down about being used as an asset but the guy has posted an average of 20+ points in the league for a reason, and he’ll get to that mark again regardless of rule changes or coaching systems.
Luis Scola, he’s old. He has no athleticism. He plays below the rim and his defense is average.
Chase Budinger, this guy takes silly shots. He’s a poor mans Battier. Blah blah blah.
Jordan Hill, anything you can think of. Hell, take a whack at his name.
Dalembert, he’s taking away our young talents’ minutes apparently.
Flynn, the guy has a weak hip, what can I say?
Lin, he’s asian. He’ll never be Yao Ming.
Lowry, your name sounds funny. I liked Brooks better. Nope, wait, the Suns convinced me otherwise.
T.Will, I’m pretty sure your defender could throw you off your game by saying “yo mama” jokes.
PitPat, what’s with the mustache man?
Morris, you’re a rookie.
Thabeet, if only his talent was reflected by his height.
Etc… You get my drift.

I would say David Stern
although Mr Gasol has not looked too good so far this year. That said, he still put us in a really bad position for no good reason.
If you're referring to me, go back and read stuff I've been writing for over a year
I wanted Martin gone LONG before his pee-pee hurt over the botched trade.
Not referring to you at all.
It just seems that this board has a need to bitch and moan and complain about a targeted player every season so I just wanted to see who everyone hates now. So far it’s Martin.
I hate david stern!
He's definitely winning it by a large margin.
This board does have a penchant to whine and groan about any player who doesn’t meet their standards. It’s one big band wagon after another, once he drops 25 points the complaints might start to go away and we’ll just pick another player to hate on.
I agree that Speed Racer is a player that we should have traded once we got his stock so high, after all we nearly got one of the Gasol brothers for him.
I think the reason he is so easy to hate
is that he doesn’t seem to add anything to the team. i always felt like we could score just as much without him. imagine if we gave out his 33 minutes to another player or two, you think they could have been better than 1-10? If he wasn’t a quiet scorer / terrible defender it wouldn’t make a difference. you think he gives up 10 easy shots a game?

The answer is "Marcus Morris"
Can’t believe he’s not listed.
Reasons:
a. He sucks
b. He went to Kansas (Fuck Kansas)
c. See “a”
d. The guys drafted behind him are already better than him.
At least he’s not Rafer.
