Real Madrid continues to piece everything back together after Ettore Messina’s traumatic departure. Madrid stole a win in overtime on the road this Thursday, March the 10th, against Lagun Aro GBC, 88-78, to improve its record to 19-5 and remain at second place in the ACB standings.
Houston Rockets’ Sergio Llull started and logged 35:27 of playing time. Llull scored 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting, grabbed three boards, dished four assists and drew eight personal fouls. Madrid rode the three-pointer in regulation, hitting 11 out of 26 attempts. Llull hit four of those 11.
It was not an impressive performance by Real Madrid, who allowed an inferior team to hang around all game and almost got surpassed in the fourth quarter when GBC outscored them 24-19 but got robbed from a game-winning attempt due an officiating mistake. In overtime, the small lineup did the trick and Madrid managed to survive in San Sebastian.
