Kyle Lowry is the new and improved......Rafer Alston?

I started looking back through the old stat sheets today, and something interesting caught my eye. Kyle Lowry's stat line this year are eerily similar to that of our old friend Rafer Alston in his first season with the Rockets (05-06). Check it out:

Kyle Lowry 10-11      12.1 PPG   3.9 RPG   6.4 APG   1.43 SPG   0.31 BPG   2.1 TOPG

Rafer Alston 05-06    12.1 PPG   4.0 RPG   6.7 APG   1.60 SPG   0.24 BPG   2.5 TOPG

Here is the kicker.....Kyle Lowry shoots better FG%, FT%, 3P%, AND had less TOPG. And not to mention we never have to see floaters clanking all day. Welcome back Rafer! I like you better this way.

No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

“Kyle Lowry is a lot like Rafer Alston, except that he’s more efficient and better in every way”

Lowry is better on d then

Alston, and more of a pass first point guard, like we need. McGrady and Yao kept Alston getting open threes. Both players have heart.

Alston was a very good defender

I’d say they’re similar players defensively, but I agree that I would have to give Lowry the edge if I had to make a choice.

His shot selection reminds me of Rafer from time to time

the kind of shot selection where you yell ‘GOD DAMN IT THAT’S NOT YOUR GAME TONIGHT!’

Lowry is a far superior decision maker to Rafer.

this is simple guys

There is not a single thing that Rafer is better than Kyle Lowry at. Except finding new and creative ways to turn the ball over at the end of the game.

Eh..

He’s better at this
Other than that… I don’t know.

Lowry may be the better Pro

But Rafer was a playground legend.
The guy was sick on the streets.

Lowry definitely does not have Rafer’s handles either.
Not that thats all that big in the pros.

Well

In reality, Rafer wasn’t good enough and neither is Lowry. That is one more thing they have in common. Right now, however, Lowry is one of the strengths of the team, something Rafer never was.

Rafer was playing with McGrady and Yao to get those stats

Lowry is playing with Martin, and Chuck Hayes. Big difference!

Lowry can bull his way into the paint when needed and draw a foul. I don’t recall Rafer doing that..

Besides

Rafer was really good at DUIs. I believe he had a double double here in Houston. HPD cuts no one any slack.
