Brooks vs. Dragic: A Suns View

I was trolling around and found a post of how Phoenix fans feel about Aaron Brooks' time with the Suns. Have a read for some hilarity in the commentary and to be reminded of how the Rockets are currently killing it.

Goran Dragic Killing It (Not Really) In Houston While Brooks Fails To Impress In Phoenix

These are Seth Pollack's observations if you're not in the mood to veer away from home base.

Brooks with the Suns
  • Brooks is also shooting better after the trade: 3P% up to .346 from .284 although for some reason his free throw shooting took a dive from .940 to .778.
  • While Goran Dragic saw his assist and turnover drop when he went from the Suns pick and roll system, Brooks hasn't seen any increase in either number.
  • Brooks' PER has gone from 11.8 with the Rockets to 17.4 with the Suns.

No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

So in summation...

D Morey is still taking people’s lunch money. Ouch.

So, again, Brooks off the bench isn't panning out, that sounds familiar.

As for citing Dragic as a reason for Houston’s turn-around, that’s a false positive. Decongesting the roster did more for the Rockets than Dragic’s play. He’s been good in the minutes he has received but can we point to 5 games post trade deadline where he got significant minutes? By significant I mean greater than fifteen.

As for them saying Brooks has failed to improve their team, Steve Nash and a major collapse across the board in Phoenix probably has more to do with it than losing Goran Dragic.

Reading the thread from the Sun's blog...

A lot of people are mostly upset about the draft pick rather than the trade. They acknowledge the trade was basically even for each team, with neither player making that huge of an impact, but it was the draft pick that broke the camel’s back and really swung the trade into our favor.

I think the funny part on the draft pick issue

is that it’s a bad draft pick with Phoenix missing the playoffs, all they lose is one spare pick they picked up. Then again, all those years Phoenix was selling their picks I didn’t hear too much groaning from Suns fans, hah.

Even though I always

wanted Lowry to start because I knew he was overall better then Brooks, he needs years of playing well to be a proven player. Thats the same with Brooks he got a MIP award and people thought he was the next great pg. This year he has had a terrible year, and yes his minutes have really been reduced, but in his success his flaws stood out. they were alot of turnovers, being too short on d, and inconsisent shooting were the reasons i thought Lowry was better. Lowrys flaws were mainly his outside shooting, because he always had great d, could drive to the hole, and had way better court vision and higher basketball iq then AB. Now he is outside is pretty good and his confidence is high. Dragic is great on d, and can drive to the hole as well, which is great because it leads too high percentage shots, and open shots for others. His shot selection is bad at times, but he recently said he is just getting the practice time to totally get adjusted to this new offense.

I coped so much flack

on another web site saying that resigning Lowry for those $ last year was not overpaying. But I didn’t think he would become the starter, maybe time share with Brooks at best. Obviously given the chance Dragic has the skill set and size to time share with Lowry but we also have Lee who is very good and should get some mins.
