I understand that Kevin McHale won 3 NBA Championships. I get that he was a 7 time All-Star. I see that his number is retired with the Boston Celtics, but does any of this qualify him for our coaching vacancy?
Wikipedia may affirm his great playing career, but it also sheds some light on a less than stellar coaching run. McHale's coaching is about as extensive as his tennis career. Great players do not make great, or even good, coaches. (See Magic Johnson).
So what if the guy coached and worked in Minnesota, where no player wants to be? He still had a hand in an era of suck.
I've heard that DM the GM is a Boston guy, but that does not mean we should just go hire Scott Wedman.
Does our organization not deserve someone tenured? Are we really going to put ourselves on the same level as the Minnesota Timberwolves? Please, Rockets...Don't do this. Hire Casey. Hire Frank. Hell, take some high school coach from the city that has been doing well.
Kevin McHale does not belong on our bench as a head coach. We're not the Astros. We're capable of winning. So let's hire a coach that will actually do that. Have I made it clear that I don't like this guy?
