Trade Proposal

My Trade Proposal:

Rockets Acquire:

Andrew Bynum

Steve Blake

Luke Walton

Lakers Acquire:

Goran Dragic

Johnny Flynn

Luis Scola

Terrence Williams

Jordan Hill

Draft Rights: Marcus Morris

2012 Round 1 Pick (Acquired from New York)

I think this trade would be good for both franchises. For the Lakers they rid themselves of the Blake and Walton contracts and also infuse their team with young talent and the speedy PG's they covet. They could slide Gasol into the five and Scola would be a natural 4 in that offense with his good passing ability and spot up shooting. Not to mention his persona would fit well on that time, a quiet humble guy who comes to work everyday ready to go. They also get three lottery picks in Morris, Hill, and Williams who are still young and developing.

The Rockets would be giving up a good deal of prospects but still have a very good roster.

Lowry/Blake

Martin/Lee

Budinger/Walton/Parsons

Patterson/Motiejunas* (Eventually)

Bynum/Hayes/Thabeet

I think this a pretty balanced roster from 1 to 5. We would still need to sign a 4 in this years free agency. Maybe a Glenn Davis or hopefully a David West. We would also be left a little thin at the SF position but Morey has done a pretty good job of acquiring good talent at the role playing position, there is no reason to think he can not do it again. Houston would FINALLY get the Center they have needed. The big question mark would be Patterson's ability to hold down the 4 spot consistently enough in the NBA. I think he has at least deserved the chance to try. I would hedge this bet with a good veteran player you know can step in and get the job done from time to time when Patterson goes through the trials and tribulations of being a starter in this league.

What Do You Think?

I don't know man....

That’s a lot of movement, and may be a stretch from LA’s standpoint. Bynum is their guy and quite frankly he’s had injury issues. But with that line up for the small forward…
It might as well read Buddinger/Walton/Parsons/jake_471.
Interesting proposal though.

Welcome to Houston Kevin McHale. Just remember "It was Minnesota" is no longer an excuse.

It's an absolute slap in the face to LA to make that move.

You’re flinging a hefty load of feces at em’ and asking for them to part with a legitimate center that has a high demand around the NBA. Luis Scola isn’t going to fetch you them willing to part with Bynum then you’re just supersaturating the team with our depth guys and rationalizing it along the lines of “Well they get point guards and prospects!” Yea, they also give up their starting center, a defensive double double guy and you force Pau Gasol to slot over where he would get punished by beefier centers. Scola would just allow defenders to funnel right into Gasol so what little good that could come from him at the 5 is negated by his inevitable foul trouble.

Sorry but this is just a bad trade idea. No balance in this.

Thank you for this

Bynum is the league’s second best center when healthy and we’re not going to get him by throwing some mediocre prospects and a slightly overpaid big man at LA.

by Patrick Harrel on Jun 25, 2011 7:58 PM CDT up reply actions

la wouldnt part with bynum

For many reasons. Most notably the fact that they can combo him with gasol to create on of the more intimidating front courts in the game. There was even talk that they wouldn’t part with bynum for howard (I know, I don’t buy that either but he’s buss jr’s prospect so u never know)
If they pull the trigger on something like this thy get a mediocre to lacking front court and we gut ourselves for an injury prone 5 with charecter and commitment issues. Not a good deal.

This trade is just bad

We are giving up way too much for a guy who’s injury history is almost as bad as Greg Oden’s.

Me against the world is a mismatch in my favor.

This trade would be bad for both teams

LA would lose the one player who will likely last and get a bunch of prospects, Houston would still be stuck and really only have one better player.

by ehburrus on Jun 25, 2011 10:46 PM CDT reply actions

This trade is pretty unbalanced

And actually ages the Lakers front court by removing the 23 year old Bynum, and replacing him with the 31 year old Scola.. Which would make both of their likely starting front court players 30+. Assuming Scola and Gasol would be paired up in the starting 5.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Well it does

But I think OP envisioned Gasol sliding over to the pivot for the Lakers

I say...

We should trade away Kyle Lowry to get back Brad Miller and resign Rafer Alston. It’d make more sense than anyone thinking the Lakers are going to let Andrew Bynum out of their Purple and Gold fingers.

To be fair though, I do appreciate the thought of having someone as big as Bynum clogging up the paint in Rocket Red. I just noticed, every time I’ve post on a topic about centers or players to acquire, I tend to make a joke about Chuck Hayes height.

Well… Here’s to drinking more milk.

fantasy trade proposal

I think that proposing multiple player trades is a waste of electrons. Are you and others really that bored to want to discuss the pros and cons of something along these lines? I think a more discussable subject would be whether the Lakers will finally drop anchor on trading Bynum after his abominable act in the playoffs? How long will his immaturity be an excuse? I think the Los Angeles franchise will really have a hard time continuing to turn down trade offers. Bynum still has relatively high trade value for someone with ongoing maturity issues that seem perhaps permanent coupled with chronic knee problems that are only getting worse.

world around here in LA is that he's the new franchise centerpiece.

Now that Jerry Buss is gone, his son came out and said that Bynum and Mike Brown are the future for the Lakers. There’s been speculation that due to this statement and the fact that Bynum is untouchable, even Dwight Howard may not be enough to compel the idiot son to trade Bynum…

I remember reading about that, little Buss is so high on Bynum. It's sad Jerry's daughter didn't get the team.

Well, sad for LA, good for the rest of us because the Buss son isn’t that sharp.

New Centerpiece?

I’ll believe it when I see it. I do think the Lakers treasure Bynum. I really don’t blame them. The ONLY question, and it’s huge, is his health. Anyone that can’t see he can play is blind, or just plain hating. He is more skilled than Howard may ever be. But, I think the Lakers jump on Howard in a heartbeat if available, for Bynum and his injuries. Don’t believe the hype!

by Mr_CDuB on Jun 27, 2011 1:33 AM CDT up reply actions

The Buss son running the Lakers was the guy who angled so hard for Bynum.

All trade negotiations have centered on Gasol and Odom and leaving Bynum untouchable. And the only Buss kid with a lick of sense, the daughter, wasn’t given the team to run. That’s why people are assuming Bynum is the new centerpiece.

Is it just me or does anyone else think

Houston get’s ass raped in this trade??? I would never do it Bynum is as bad as Yao injury wise.

by alexander_37 on Jun 26, 2011 11:54 AM CDT reply actions

i agree

i really like morris, but we would at least need to keep the 2012 pick. 2012 picks are worth more than a lot of guys in the NBA right now.

by BuckeyeBob on Jun 26, 2011 7:06 PM CDT up reply actions

LA have nothin to trade really

they need a speedy point and quick wingman that can shoot/take the load off kobe
i dont think they will trade fisher but if they cud get someone like dragic would really help em i think but if there to give up bynum theyll want a quick PG, a wing that can contribute and a replacement center (not a great one just someone who can do abit of everythin)
