Trade proposal from a Nets fan

Hey guys, I'm a huge Nets fan and I wanted to see  what you guys think of a trade proposal: Courtney Lee and Brad Miller for NJ's #27 and #36 picks in this year's draft and your lottery protected 2012 pick returned. While the protections on that pick make it unlikely to materialize for the Nets, it prohibits the Rockets from trading their own draft pick before the 2018 draft because of the Stepien rule . I know Morey is looking to trade up in this year's draft and with that many draft picks, you guys can easily get into the top 10 of this year's draft.

So, what do you guys think?

I couldn't part with Courtney Lee like that.

But in regards to Brad Miller, I’ve begun to get low on toilet paper. I will trade you two packs of Charmin Ultra Soft for him.

Interesting proposal

How much TP would you say he’s worth? Also – single or double ply?

All right, later dudes. S you in your A’s, don’t wear a C, and J all over your B’s.

Double-ply. I drive a hard bargain.

So we drop a bad contract and a valuable rebuilding player for late picks in a weak draft?

Sorry, going to take more than that to entice me in the slightest.

My beingadick-butnotbeinganannoyingdick skills, they're impressive.

Yes, which complicates things a bit

Since he was traded away from the Nets this season, we can’t trade back for him till after June 30th and the new CBA.

Critical Success!

He wanted out of here

Personally, I am not a fan of his.

Those picks we dont need

they are pretty much like second round picks. I will say maybe Scola for Travis Outlaw, if we still need to get a starting three. The nets need good players to play with Williams, and Scola is a start. Yall can have Miller, but lee is too valuable and keeps improving.

We aren't set at SG

Morrow is best suited as a 6th man. “Here” is not the same place it was two years ago. Nets are looking to build a contender and Lee is a good starter as a 4th or 5th option on a contender, but he doesn’t help very much on a lottery-bound, rebuilding team. And just because we overpaid Petro doesn’t mean we don’t still need a backup C. I know Miller is out for a while, but it shouldn’t be too much of the season given the lockout and his contract is non guaranteed in 2012.

Critical Success!

"lottery-bound, rebuilding team"

Just checking here but did you just describe the rockets as a “lottery-bound, rebuilding team” and the nets as a contender that could use lee as a 4th or 5th option?

The 2012 pick is intriguing

Next year’s draft is supposed to be a strong one. Won’t happen though.

So, how exactly does the money work out?

Aren’t draft picks worth a whopping total of $0?

How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!

I could see Scola in NJ not for shit picks though

might have to part with your only rebounder and a pick

Nah thats ok

Don’t need those picks. Is derron williams even staying with ya’ll?

he's got at least another year

the move to brooklyn probably won’t hurt his desire to sign an extension

Scola makes sense in NJ because NJ could use a Power Forward.

Isn’t that the pick we traded for T-Will?

How bout

Miller and our 2nd round pick for Brook Lopez?

Besides

Miller had micro fracture surgery, he will be out for quite a while. He is totally worthless.
The deal with a healthy Miller just plain sucks. Maybe we add Scola and the 23rd pick for a top 10 choice

by mjdinhouston on Jun 11, 2011 2:31 PM CDT reply actions

Better yet

Sign and trade Williams for Scola and the #23.

by mjdinhouston on Jun 11, 2011 2:40 PM CDT reply actions

I don't see why people are against this trade

It really just comes down to the direction in which the team is going. Our own lottery-protected pick likely becomes a 15-20pick down the road, unless we somehow draft the next Duncan and go from lottery to contender in one year. 27th pick this year may or may not be worthless. If we trade up with 23/14, then it has value. Otherwise, not so much.

There are a lot of variables, but it’s not unfeasible for the Rockets. Overall though, I doubt such a trade gets pushed through before the draft. I think if Morey wants to unload Lee, he’ll do so at the trade deadline to a contender.
