Chase Budinger: Volleyball Player
Chase Budinger is getting a chance to workout and play a sport he loves during the lockout according to him and ESPN. (Link) He's a ridiculous athlete and volleyball is something that appears to come naturally to him. At least based on the few highlights from his high school days that I've seen.
Like here, where he's like 12 feet in the air at his hand
Or here where the ground still hasn't recovered
And here are a few highlights in one video
Good for you Chase taking some time to do what you love to do. I'm thinking a few of the guys on the pro circuit (who I realize are pretty awesome themselves) won't know what hit them

As someone who played setter in high school
You dream of having someone like that on your team. Makes your job so much easier. You can’t teach that athleticism. Being tall is not enough.
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
Yea,
That’s all his teammates were doing was setting then looking at him. Lol, sounds like a damn good strategy.
I'm a household name... at my house.

Crazy that more than half those kills in the last video
Are backrow shots. Dude’s jumping from 3 meters away from the net and still hitting straight down…I’d have killed for that kind of ability when I played (HS and at A&M club team).
Did you play in Houston area or what?
Yeah
I went to St. John’s (with JSlay, who’s around here sometimes). We both played opposite hitter from the back row, though back then I was too short to do much hitting, so I was the backup setter. I wasn’t great or anything like that, but I wish I had been taller back then, so I could have gotten to hit.

When did you
go to SJS exactly? I was on the Kinkaid Volleyball team for the past 4 years, so I might’ve played you if you were recent haha.

Got ya
I played with what was then the South Shore club team down in the Clear Lake area. When St. Johns had their season we’d play as Clear Lake HS and usually would come up and scrimmage you guys every week. I played middle mostly, little bit of opposite too.
Graduated HS in 2000 so would’ve been before your time I guess. I think South Shore is now Houston Volleyball Academy – you probably played with/against them or some of their guys several times.
I always dreamed
Of hitting like that, but I never had the height or jumping ability, so I ended up at Libero which is frankly the opposite. Imagining trying to pass one Bud’s hits is scary…

Sick spikes.

i watched these a few months ago
ridiculous stuff.
my exposure to volleyball has been limited to the sand volleyball type with beer involved. :D
I wish Bud would work on his lateral movement
I can see how he gets his explosions to the hoop but on D he needs to have quicker lateral movement. Maybe playing in the sand can help. If he can up his D we will have a legitimate 3.

I can't believe I so eagerly watched Buddinger volleyball highlights
MY GOD, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HAVE NBA BASKETBALL???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
