Useful Reminder:

All-Star voting has started. Cast your vote for Kyle Lowry right now. You can't vote for two teams of five Kyle Lowrys, but you can cast a vote every day (more if you're the least bit imaginative!) until February or something. Also you get a chance to win a trip to fabulous Orlando for the All Star Game. So go vote for Kyle. Kyle is currently an ABSURD 6th in All-Star Voting, so get to it.

Neither are ticket holders for this game, apparently

Though to be fair they’re always late, and no-shows.

Patterson more so than Scola

But without Scola your offense is a little tougher to run with that group.

I still think you can scrap Scola.

Lowry directs it all and we’re a PG centered offense now.

But who can he pick and roll with?

I think Scola commands more respect from the big man that helps Lowry break down the defense off the pick.

Anyone else just kind of bored watching these Rockets?

I feel a lot like I’m watching last year with a taller Chuck Hayes. I just feel like we’re cruising for the 14th pick or 15th pick and that I can just replay this season to save me time next year.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:42 PM CST reply actions

Jesus

make some positive contributions or just stfu. We all know you hate this team, the management, the coach, the future, the players, the stadium, the seats, the jerseys, the court, the plane the team flies on…. Just stop watching.

And I’m not bored watching this team grow at all.

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

That's mature.

As everyone beside yourself has pointed out, we like watching the team… Their defense is getting better every game, I think their ball movement and offensive sets have gotten crisper as well. I enjoy watching this team, if you want to cheer for the #1 draft pick I’m sure the Pistons and Wizards have plenty of room on their bandwagon…

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

dude...

didn’t you just say stfu?

by twinkilling0303 on Jan 17, 2012 7:47 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

In a bigger sentence, yes.

We going to argue semantics? Or cheer for a team to get better?

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

I'm just sayin

you can’t say “that’s mature” when you just said the same thing.

by twinkilling0303 on Jan 17, 2012 7:50 PM CST up reply actions

Well my apologies,

but his constant negativity is annoying on a fan board. Again, semantics, but I didn’t just tell him to stfu and nothing else… I explained myself and prefaced my comment. Not just a stand alone sentence. That’s what I was referring to, but semantics aren’t fun to explain or talk about IMO…

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 7:52 PM CST up reply actions

Watching a team grow

only to get torn apart…it’s a shame really

by twinkilling0303 on Jan 17, 2012 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

I’m sure Morey will blow it up at some point unfortunately, I just hope we get some good ball players from it.

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 7:47 PM CST up reply actions

I was being a little sarcastic

if they are growing…it’s really all for nothing. Not winning anything this year, getting a bad pick, then having many people traded away.

I dealt with this a lot with the Bills this year.

Do you pin interceptions on a talented secondary or the quarterback making bad decisions. It seems like when Buffalo picked anyone not named Tom Brady it was “the secondary”, other than that it was “bad decision making.”

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:47 PM CST up reply actions

Get your point but Yates made some big rookie mistakes.

Zoning in on one reciever, not looking off the safety, ect.

by Dmo_Htx on Jan 17, 2012 7:49 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I feel like DBs don't get the credit they deserve (Not named Revis +4 for cheating)

I felt like commentators liked to acquit quarterbacks of blame rather than speak to the skill of a good safety or CB.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:50 PM CST up reply actions

Buffalo had some good DBs this year

George Wilson is a monster.

Drayton Florence sucks, though.

by ehburrus on Jan 17, 2012 7:51 PM CST up reply actions

Good God if Florence doesn't get his ass cut this year I will punch Buddy Nix in the junk.

I’m hoping they continue to draft smart (Even if Gailey doesn’t call the plays intelligently, seriously, took Jackson a broken leg to take a look at Spiller?).

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:53 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, Buffalo needs to take a page out of Houston's book as far as runningbacks go

It is possible to run two RBs that both perform well.

And I got tired of Drayton Florence committing at least 2 pass interference penalties a game

by ehburrus on Jan 17, 2012 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

I know, right?

I tip my hat to Foster, he was undrafted too, right? Him and Jackson showed you don’t need to get picked to rip it up. My respect to another “under the radar” back to take the AFC rushing crown from him.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:56 PM CST up reply actions

I feel like a good secondary can overrate a pass rush and the reverse.

If you get constant pressure, the QB is gonna make a stupid throw which will make your Safety look good, and if your CBs are locking down their receivers, your pass rush is gonna look good because of all the sacks they are going to get.

Sonicsgate: A movie about how the Sonics were stolen from Seattle.

by .Bonzo on Jan 17, 2012 7:52 PM CST up reply actions

Agree with that.

What pisses me off the most is when people pick maybe a couple of plays where the db gets burned but fails to mention the other 40 where he had great coverage. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

by Dmo_Htx on Jan 17, 2012 7:53 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I felt that big this year. The games went on and on with no INTs for Byrd and people questioned drop off.

Last year before injury teams ran on him, this year, got his picks and broke up a lot of huge plays. I think Williams, Byrd, and a healthy McKelvin makes a pretty good secondary up here in Buffalo.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

Need a pass rush and second WR this season.

And OLine depth and I’ll be happy. Wouldn’t mind drafting Tannehill either.

Between this draft and late performance for the Texans you think it's a do or die?

I ask because I sometimes like to dream that Buddy Nix isn’t just kind of sitting around at One Bills Drive in a diaper letting the NFL pass him by.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 8:06 PM CST up reply actions

I fully believe they are in do or die mode.

The Texans are real, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they entered as AFC Champion favorites next year.

Ouch!

Actually I never rooted for any Big 12 school in high school. In fact, I hated UT and A&M because everyone was always on their dicks when they always underperformed (except VY’s 2005 Rose Bowl).

And my first memory of college basketball is Darvin Hamm at Tech breaking the backboard on a thunderous dunk in the Sweet Sixteen against UNC. So 5-year-old me thought that was soooooo cool.

I rooted for Florida because orange and blue were my favorite colors, and I eventually liked Gonzaga because they always were a Cinderella. But I didn’t apply to any of the schools I mentioned except Tech.

If I'm Orlando I don't do him any favors.

The Clippers won’t relinquish Blake Griffin for him and that’s really the only guy to structure a deal around. I still like my blow it up but get a star idea (One to snag Rondo).

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 8:04 PM CST up reply actions

Orlando's caught in a bad spot with him though...

He’s got a ton of value but at the end of the day he probably won’t resign.. I’m not sure if he has a clause in his contract that he has to accept the trade, but they probably need to move him if they don’t want to be the Cavs for the next 4 years.

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 8:06 PM CST up reply actions

But I think there is another clause

that says they have to approve any pending trade before it can be finalized… May be wrong though.

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

That's the trade kicker, same thing Bryant has. It amounts to a no-trade clause.

Howard doesn’t have that. He’s just banking on having rapport with the FO by making his demands. It was the same way with Anthony last year. These guys demand a trade and fork over a wish list, it really only serves to screw their current team and rake the receiving team over the coals.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 8:10 PM CST up reply actions

In that case...

trade him to the Wizards for John Wall and see how much fun he has

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 8:11 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not saying they'd do that trade

but I’d definitely send him somewhere he didn’t want to go if I were Otis.

by AhForJustOneTime on Jan 17, 2012 8:14 PM CST up reply actions

I think it almost has to happen out of spite.

Swindle the team that will take him on a rental and walk away laughing. Unfortunately the Rockets are one of those teams who would take him on a rental and convince themselves that he’d get warm and fuzzies to stick around.

by BD34 on Jan 17, 2012 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

No such clause

Dwight just has all the leverage in negotiations

by Only_A_Lad on Jan 17, 2012 8:10 PM CST up reply actions

Dirk has one too. But yeah, Howard doesn’t.

Defense good so far

Rotations look good, activity was nice, defending the paint… Minus a couple stupid TOs and the end of the 1st quarter debacle, we’ve been doing well.

he’s certainly being made the poster boy for the new rules

by Camouflage14 on Jan 17, 2012 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Well new rule minus Wade, Lebron and maybe 3 other people...

Saw Lebron get 3 consecutive calls on much less contact then the last Martin drive… He missed 3 of the first 4 free throws too, thankfully

We actually had a decent lead.

Then it got all 2010 up in here.

True point guards better than Paul (all-time)

Walt Frazier, Steve Nash, Magic, Jason Kidd, Oscar Robertson, Isiah Thomas, John Stockton.

Yeah, he could definitely get into the top 3 and I wouldn’t blink. And I realize a couple of names are debatable. You get the point.

I'd take Paul over Nash, Kidd, Stockton, Robertson.

Robertson was a brilliant player, somewhat overrated because of the era he played in.

Chris Paul’s teams have generally been utter shit, and he’s done amazing things with them. 2nd-best player in the game today, I think.

by Only_A_Lad on Jan 17, 2012 8:53 PM CST up reply actions

You’d take one amazing season and one great season from Chris Paul and stack them up against the 40493484 seasons Stockton had?

And no way Paul is #2 in my opinion. Maybe 5. I’d take Lebron, Wade, Durant, Dirk, and maaayyyybbbeeee Kobe over Paul right now.
