I read on ESPN today about a possible trade scenario....
QUOTE
Pierce to the Houston Rockets for Kevin Martin and Patrick Patterson/Jordan Hill
"Martin simply has not been the same this season. His body language, coupled with his drop in scoring, down from 23.4 ppg in 2010-11 to 16.5 this season, are reason enough. Whether he remains disappointed from the failed trade that would have sent him to the New Orleans Hornets earlier this season, or the new rules that affect his ability to pump fake and draw fouls, Martin's game has regressed. He does not have the ability to be the No. 1 scorer for the Rockets and carry them in the fourth quarter.
Impact: Pierce would be a perfect veteran fit for the Rockets. Putting him alongside talented youngsters Kyle Lowry, Courtney Lee, Luis Scola and Samuel Dalembert would give the Rockets a good blend of youth and experience. For the Celtics, Martin would provide them with a 20-point scorer to take over for impending free agent Ray Allen. Martin has shown signs of returning to form, scoring 32 points last Thursday. Either Patterson or Hill would offer quality -- and inexpensive -- depth for Ainge, who must fill almost an entire roster next season."
END QUOTE
Whatda ya think? I think wed have a good balance of veterns and young players, and williams can get more time at SG.
But, Then Budinger wont get much PT so wed should prolly move him for a pick IMO.
Not to mention we would probably make the playoffs and our defense would improve (espehally if hills the one traded) and we would become a more attractive destinations for free agents
interesting..............

I don't see why would the Celtics go for it
Like you said Martin’s numbers are down, Pierce is pretty much the same. Plus he’s been with the Celtics since he went pro, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t retire in Boston

You can't say Kevin Martin has bad body language or down numbers.
I’m pretty sure his Sensitivity Efficiency Ranking is pretty low (It’s an advanced metric and tough to understand/explain) and he’s clearly just holding back to let the rest of the NBA feel good! HATER HATER HATER HATER!

Good lord,
please don’t let this happen.
I wouldn’t even trade Martin for Pierce straight up. Do not want Pierce, at all.

This is one of those grind em out columns
Let’s fire up trade machine and see what we can do!
No way Morey will take on an extra $4mil in salary off of next yr’s cap room for a player who is on downside of his career and is constantly missing a week or two w/small injuries.
Brad Miller?

That was a gift to Adelman
Plus Miller is 7 feet tall.
NO, NEVER, NUNCA to Paul Pierce!!!! He is not what the Rockets need.
Brad was booby prize for missing out on Bosh
Morey didn’t sign Brad til Bosh said no and made the large cap room irrelevant.
Read that article
The guy who wrote this was clearly desperate for reads. He had ATL trading Smith for Pierce, Mem trading Gay for Pierce and 2 other dumb trades.
Stupid article. Not worth it for the Rockets. Martin is better than Pierce at this stage in their careers and Patterson is going to be solid.
I wouldn't trade for Pierce
if he was water for the Toyota Center on fire.
But that’s just me. Can’t stand the guy.
Bros how much money do we got and
can we offer wilson chandler any money? what about tha cats in china……dat man chandler is a beast so lmk cuz i dnt….

Why on earth would we trade Boston a whole new team for the cadaver of Paul Pierce?
Hey, I know, let’s trade really productive and generally underpaid guys for a guy who’s entering that “missing two weeks here and there” stage of his career.
I love ESPN sometimes. Lowry is the most underpaid player in the NBA right now.
"Each in turn... volunteered his suggestions, his invaluable suggestions."
none of the trades in the "column" really make sense
Though I actually kinda buy into trading Gay for Pierce, but I doubt the Grizzlies see it that way. Oh and it would be a shitty deal for Boston.
I loved this line, btw:
Gay’s young, athletic legs would give the Celtics the bounce they desperately need
How many points do you get for “bounce?”
How many points do you get for
Gay young, athletic legs
Just playin ya’ll, dont crucify me.
flayed ones stealth mode
"Fleshling! Do not shoot! For I am one of you fleshy things. It is I. Your Uncle Stan. Can't you tell by the long strips of fleshy substances covered in bodily fluids? Trust me! I have fleeeeeeeeesh."
The ESPN "experts" are dreadful
Another one proposed Prince for Beasley because it would clear out room at SF for Minn’s Derrick Williams. Who knew Prince wasn’t a SF? And it makes perfect sense for Minn to trade away a SF on an expiring contract for a vet SF signed for 4 yrs in order to clear room for a rookie SF in ESPN land.
