Observations from the bench (well...close to it)
Being a long time Rockets fan, I was elated when I finally got the chance to sit really close to the floor at the Bucks game Wednesday. Sitting right by the Rockets bench, here are some experiences and observations I took away:
- Kyle Lowry is serious as hell. So are Dalembert and Dragic. Twill and Jordan Hill are the opposite. Courtney Lee appears to be the only one who can be both.
- Seems like every player can block out fan noise, except T-Will. He will look if you call his name. And yes, my girlfriend did call out EVERY players name (quite embarrassing to say the least)
- Parsons has a god awful follow through on his jumper. Also, I am pretty sure I saw Courtney Lee showing him how to shoot a basketball during warmups.
- You've got to see Dbert play in person. They guy is extremely athletic for his size. He also always looks like he is trying to figure out a math problem, anybody notice that?
- Got to shake hands with Bill Worrell and Clyde. Bill looks like a wax figure.
- Just a little extra...got on kiss cam and caught a hat
Anyways, it was a pretty awesome experience for a Rockets fan. A win would have been nice though (32-6 run, really?)
Any other fans out there have any good court-side stories? Or experiences with Rockets players / personnel up close?

Very awesome.
I got courtside seats right behind the visiting bench a couple of years ago. It was against the Hornets, so I got to see Chris Paul up close. He was effectively the coach of that team. This was just after their then-GM Jeff Bower had fired Byron Scott and taken over, and it was obvious that Chris Paul was running the on-court show. He was the most vocal in time outs, he was the one usually calling the plays. Lowry’s attitude sort of reminds me of that.
All the Hornets players, at least, seemed to block out what fans shouted at them. Even Jeff Bower didn’t seem to react when I said he was a shitty GM and that’s why his team sucked.
It’s good to know that Bill Worrell is as waxen in real life as he appears on tv.
In other Bill Worrell news...
My aunt used to date somebody who did the news at Channel 2 when Bill was there. She says he was quite the ladies man back in the day.
I used to hang with Bill Worrell at half time.
He used to be at the bar near courtside of the staidum, it’d be nice to have a conversation with him every now and then.

Depends on where you get them I guess...
If you pay retail price, they are pretty expensive. My seats were front row behind the basket. $100 on flashseats.
how much it cost you?

I got courtside seats to a Rockets vs. Celtics game.
Shook hands with Chuck Hayes and he gave my little sister a plastic toy ball he was holding. Said HI to Courtney Lee and caught a shirt. Also, the Rockets won.

Maybe its because we lost...
I bet the bench is lot more fun to sit by during a blowout or close game.
got to sit courtside a couple of times
Most noteably when we lost to jazz in playoffs a few yrs ago. Sad to say i lost us a game as i (tastefully) heckled boozer, got him mad (he glared at me and looked like he wanted to kill me and proceeded to hit every shot for the rest of the night (would periodically look back at me after he hit his shots) all i said was ‘boozer is a looser’ didnt think it was that bad.
Also there was a play where dwill and

And lowey collided hard at midcourt in front if me, both collapses but while lowry got back up right away dwill just layed there, whole stadium was silent as it looked realy bad but as i said i was right there and saw there was no blood or anything so i screamed ‘cry baby williams! Cry, cry, cry!’ We had started calling him that earlier in the game/series as he would weep to refsafter every play. Also in that series the jazz were beating us late in the game and i was sitting near bill/clyde & les/hakeem. I pleaded ’ mr.olojawon, please suit up for us!’ He just smiled and bill said ‘thats right, its mr.olojawon to you’ i was dead serious though
Also say courtside when we lost to lakers at hom in next yrs playoffs. Lakers were WAY up at the end of the game and gasol was shooting garbage time ft, stadium was mostly filing out but we never leave early, all of a sudden my older brother got this sincerely dissapointed look on his face as said ’you’re damn ugly gasol, damn ugly’ u could see pau was legit hurt and bricked his shots. I think those were his only misses of the night from the stripe too. Was funny as hell.
During reg season i won us a game against the t-wolves as they were starting telfair and i kept callin him by his first name, he kept turning his head to see who was taling to him and brooks stole it. That happened like 3 or 4 times that night. Dont think ol sebastian expected anyone to know his name.

courtside nba
Is unlike anything else in this world. I LOVE me some texans and have had season tickets since they started but u cant effect a game like u can in basketball. U r right there and the players can most def hear you. I finally got to heckle refs in person, was so gratifying.
By ‘heckle’ i just said things like ‘hey ref, i thought grabbing a guys arm when hes shooting is a foul!’ Once again though dude looked pissed and glared at me. Never said anything personal ir cursed at em. Heard other fans were way worse so was kinda shocked that my fairly innocuous comments had such an effect.
