Scola and Martin Trades Around SBN Communities

What are our players worth? this is hotly debated. Some think we over value Rockets players. This got me thinking. Is there a way we can gauge what our players values might be to other teams. I think so.

What I learned: EVERYONE wants Lowry for peanuts and many think Lowry+Scola is worth a star.

Search SBN blogs for "scola trade" and "Martin trade"

Lets see what kinds of options we have (other than TDS posters on other sites, or our own).

This is all I found.

Star-divide

Scole trade offers:

Lakers Blog

Pau for Scola + Martin + Dragic or Budinger or T.Will + 1strd Pick

...same thread...3-way

LAL Receives: Howard, Scola, Turk, Dragic

ORL Recieves: Bynum, Martin

HOU Receives: Galosh

plus a million occurrences of "Pau for Scola+Lowry" posts

The clipps commnity had this 3-way :

LA receives: D.Howard, H.Turkoglu, Q.Richardson, and H.Thabeet

Houston receives: P.Gasol, J.Reddick

Orlando receives: A.Bynum, L.Scola, K.Martin, D.Ebanks

Nets:

Nets user wants CP3 deal for Dwill.

Orlando:

Houston: Gasol, J richardson

Orlando:Dwill, bynum, Matt barnes

Lakers: D12, Turk, Scola

Nets: Jameer Nelson, Martin, Dragic (realizeing Dwill doesn't stay w/o D12...a stretch)

OR

Bynum, Scola, Martin + knicks pick Rockets get Pau, obviously lakers get D12

Everything else I considered too old.

Martin

no one is taking about kevin martin....seriously.

Celtics think Martin for Ray Allen is a square.

just for fun i saw this.

Chris Kaman

Also, it made me want to throw up reading some of these Lowry trades....disgusting.

Screw that Laker trade

entitled SOBs, Scola, Dragic and Martin was enough to get it done the first time, so screw those guys.

Scola and Martin are definitely over valued by this board, I think.

Scola’s starting to decline, and Martin isn’t the same player that he was with the rules being tweaked a bit.

Honestly, Scola’s worth a late first rounder, at this point. Martin would, at best, be worth a low 20s pick.

You'll be crazy to think other fans doesnt do the same to their own

Take Pau Gasol for example, still a very good player, but stats are down across the board this year, noticeable lack of effort in last year’s playoffs, and he’s 32. But I bet you a good amount laker fan though Kevin Love for Pau Gasol straight up is the fairest of trades

I don't think Love for Gasol is fair.

Maybe if Gasol was younger, then the trade would be fair.

But it's not what you think

You’re not a die hard Laker fan

In their mind , they just traded a 2 time champion still in his prime for a somewhat defensively liable power forward stuck in small market.

Fans overvalue/undervalue their own because they have stronger opinions about them

The Kaman link is great

I’d swap Thabeet, Flynn and a 2nd rounder for Kaman in about 2 seconds.

Morey should see what the Hornets want for Kaman…

… as far as I am concerned, they can have any of those ‘09 guys we didn’t opt to resign.

Who knows, the Hornets may be willing to take a flyer on T-Will. Maybe they will give him the minutes and maybe he will live up to his talent for them.

If he doesn’t, then they still make out okay since they seem to be looking to tank, anyways…

I would think that the Hornets would prefer to cut salary

If they are just swapping for expiring contracts they would want to get less back to cut payroll this year. If we can get him for 3 of the "’09ers and maybe a second round pick I would do it. He isn’t worth Scola or Martin and I’d rather have the cheap contracts the others are on then the value Kaman brings us just this season.

From HoopsHype

Bill Ingram: Dell Demps loves Luis Scola…don’t be surprised if his name comes up in Kaman trade talks… Twitter
Not sure how I feel about that. It gives you max flexibility come June 30, also allows Jordan Hill to move back to the 4. If the last two games mean anything, Jordan is starting to get it. I think we could send WIlliams or Thabeet with Scola to make the money work.

by makinmajik on Jan 29, 2012 11:16 AM CST reply actions

I just can't see them taking on salary

for 3 more years. He might like Scola, but I don’t think that’s happening

Please stop listening to Bill Ingram.

Not at all a credible source.

He's not the only one

You did good research on it, would totally like to see another if you so choose.

Yah, the idea is great.

Obviously, you have no control over the quality of the trades, but I would enjoy just a post about all trades involved with the Rockets, not just Kmart and Scola.
