The Rockets' starting Center is great!...
...but the team needs a good backup when Omer rests for a few minutes, or from foul trouble.
Greg Smith? Hmm...I don't know... If he's even half as good as Omer, he would have been playing more this preseason.
If only I was Morey, I'd gamble on Kyrylo Fesenko, who's been let go by the Bulls recently. What?! Yup, you heard me right!
(Im new around these parts ((yeah, Im one of Those fans, but I'm hooked on the team as well)), so please be kind..)
I just found out that the Rockets offered him a multi-year deal back in 2010, but he chose to stay with the Jazz. So way back then, the Rockets already saw something in the Ukrainian.
Fesenko is young, 7'1", built just like Omer, and someone from Spurstalk.com forum even said "he could be a poor man's Omer Asik on D!". But Fes is horrible on offense, unlike the current Omer. He's also foul prone, but hey, he's a 7 footer! He only needs to play 10-15 minutes, and defend Like OMER, then I'd say he's a much better option than relying on G.Smith.
Or....maybe the Rockets can bring in another Turkish bigman, albeit older, lumbering and struggles on the defensive end... Mehmet Okur anybody?
What do you guys think?
