The Miami Heat got off to the right kind of start on Tuesday night, blasting the Celtics 120-107 in a game that provided more than one story line. The Heat took off to a big lead and then allowed Boston to get back into it. Overall though, the vaunted new depth of the Celtics wasn’t enough to overcome the domination of Miami’s starting lineup.
Just to make things more bitter for the Celtics, Ray Allen was able to put up 19 points, overcoming a slow preseason and giving fans the hope that he’ll be all he was cracked up to be, a dependable outside shooter and another weapon in the fully loaded Miami arsenal. The Celtics obviously weren’t too happy about his decision to head for the warmth of American Airlines Arena, as Allen got a very noticeable cold shoulder from Kevin Garnett. Can’t blame Garnett, he may have seen his chances of an NBA Championship fly away south when Allen took off.
