I'm optimistic but realistic at the same time. The Rockets are one player away from being a 1-4 seed out of the West. That's great news. Houston Rockets have become one of the most exciting and talked about teams in the NBA since getting James Harden.
So what do the Rockets need? A Power Forward. There's 3 Power Forwards that are unrestricted free agents and I think Paul Millsap from Utah should be the Rockets target. One of the things I look at is on/off court ratio and the Rockets can't lose with David West, Josh Smith or Paul Millsap.
Josh Smith - +8.1 but I don't think Atlantla will let him go and they will match or exceed any offer.
David West - +5.3 and I think he will stay in Indiana. There best lineup was Collison, George, Granger, West and Hibbert. They were +185 when they were on the court together. I think DJ Augustin will fit in well with them.
Paul Millsap - +11 and I think he will want to leave Utah. Also, they will not go far with Mo Williams at the PG position. Williams is a -7.1.
What this ratio tells you, is how much impact does the individual have when on the court. For instance, Lebron James is a +14.1. Amare for the Knicks is a -8.8. So when Stat was on the court the Knicks were -1.4 when he was off the court the Knicks they were +7.4. This is why OKC got the short end of the stick with the Harden trade. Harden was +7.6 and Martin was -1.3.
If Millsaps ratio stays above +5 for the 2012-1013 season, he will be a good pick up for the Rockets. When Harden or Lin has an off night, Millsap will pick up the slack and when they all are having a good night, they will be very hard to beat. There ratio together last year was:
Paul Millsp +11
James Harden +7.6
