We can all agree that James Harden has been good in December. But how good?
Here is what Harden has done in twelve December games.
If this is anything close to what the Rockets can expect from James Harden going forward, then he is undoubtedly a #1 option, and a top five player if he can pull his defense to even average.
Here are Kobe Bryant's career averages by comparison.
And here's per minute efficiency king Manu Ginobili's career numbers, scaled to 37.9 minutes a game.
And, just for fun
Lest I be accused of trolling, I am not saying that Harden should be expected to maintain these averages, or that he will definitely be better than Kobe, Wade, or Manu. It should also be recognized that the Rockets' high pace inflates Harden's counting stats somewhat, while the Spurs deliberate pace suppressed Manu's stats, for example, in the mid-00's. Even with these caveats, James Harden right now is playing at a near unprecedented level, and if his peak settles in at anywhere near these numbers, he will be ridiculously valuable.
