We've longed for a star caliber player here in Houston since the aging and injuries of T-Mac and Yao Ming. The Knicks are playing some of the best basketball in the league right now without their star player. A lot of people around the league agrees that Carmelo may not fit into what the Knicks are trying to do right now. The fact is that Melo is a tremendous player, but with Jeremy Lin running the show in town. So Melo might in fact be available to teams that have the right pieces to give back to the Knicks.
Enter the Houston Rockets. We have been amassing assets and draft picks in the past couple years now with hopes and dreams of transforming them into a all-NBA caliber player. We have been wildly unsuccessful in doing so thus far, however this might just be the opportunity we were looking for. While some of you may not like to trade for Melo, keep in mind that we almost gave up a 1st rounder, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, and Goran Dragic for Pau Gasol. I'm not sure I was so excited about giving up all those contributing players plus a draft pick for a terrific while exponentially aging center. Those of us who criticize Anthony's defense also should keep in mind that Kevin Martin isn't really playing much defense for us either.
Obtaining Carmelo is not going to make us a contender, rather what it would do is make Houston more of an attractive destination for star-caliber free agents in the coming summers. This is my proposed deal to the Knicks, and it checks out on ESPN Trade Machine.
Rockets receive: Carmelo Anthony
Knicks receive: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Terrence Williams

What are your thoughts? Are you tired of mediocrity as I am? Should we make the whole team available not named Kyle Lowry?
