Kevin Love Suspended Two Games for Luis Scola Stomp
Every Rockets fan's favorite power forward was dealt a two game suspension this afternoon for his actions on Saturday night. He'll miss games against Sacramento and Memphis while serving the suspension.
The no-call was also upgraded to a flagrant-two foul.

Would have liked 4 games
But I guess 2 is better than nothing. I’ve lots tons of respect for Love, and gained even more for Scola for keeping it professional.
My thought as well, sort of...
Being a Wolves fan I thought Love only deserved a one game suspension. However had Scola done the exact thing to Love I would have demanded a 4 game suspension… Due to homerism…
In the end 2 games is in the middle of both of my biases and I think it is pretty fair considering that Love is a first time offender. I love his competiveness, but he needs to play with a calmer head at times.
Cheers
I’m a fan of Love, but that was dirty. He knew exactly what he was doing. Furthermore, this:
The no-call was also upgraded to a flagrant-two foul.
A no-call. Seriously. He nearly had his arms ripped off first (blatant foul), then Love steps on his face and chest. Really? That was a joke.
Flagrant 2 foul vs the tech the Rockets got is an immediate 3 + point swing (rockets would get the ball instead of a fast break with free throws for Kevin Love)
And Kevin Love would have been ejected….
So yeah a missed call probably cost us the game.
Could have.
Love should have been tossed. I should figure out every board and score he got after that and probably remove it.

Haha. I know it's stupid to think about it
But with how close the Western conference playoffs is every game matters

man i lost a lot of respect for that guy
I was a really big fan. It pissed me off almost as much as the Fisher foul.

Well put.
I’d rec this a million times if I could.
Eh. I was losing respect for him fast before the stomp. This year he has been absolutely crying every time he doesn’t get a call, and every time he makes a good play he smirks and stares somebody down. He’s quickly turning into a less talented PF version of LeBron James. It is especially evident when you contrast him with Rubio, who beams with pure joy of playing the game every time he makes a good play. Even before he started attacking people when he didn’t get calls I had lost a bunch of respect for him.

I havent watched many TWolves games so I cant speak to that
I am even more pissed with his reaction to be honest. Actually more disappointed, its amazing that Suh did the same thing and there was such an uproar and there is no where near the same scrutiny on Love when it could be argued his action was much worse. I know in my culture if someone does something like that to you, it is a great insult and trust me no one would be as calm as Scola. I just am floored by his professionalism and how he didnt do anything to risk him getting kicked out, all to help the team. Im not sure if most of us would be as calm as him.

In partial defense of Love, it looks like he went to step on Scola, then halfway down realized how scummy what he was doing was and tried to abort, leading to the weird stomp-shuffle he did. I’ve been pretty disappointed that nobody with a public following has called him on his excuses though. He’s talked a lot about “size 19 shoes”, which is such a pathetic excuse, especially when you combine it with phrases like “heat of the moment”. Accidents are accidents. They happen whenever. Only mistakes happen in the heat of the moment. His explanations have made it clear that it was intentional, but no one is bringing that up.

Well, I was wrong.
I couldn’t have been MORE wrong.

Visitor here
Hi everyone,
I’m visiting from Canis Hoopus and just wanted to share an interview with Kevin Love responding to MN reporters after practice today.
http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/news/practice_report_2012_02_06.html
I was at the game and saw the Scola-Stomp up-close. In my opinion, the officials should have kept the game under control by making prior calls on both ends of the court. Love clearly fouled Scola before stepping on him, and he knows that. I’m glad to hear that he made a point of offering his apologies to Scola and other Rockets after the game.
I think that going into this game, Kevin Love and other Wolves teammates were of the mindset that they couldn’t allow opponents to push them around anymore. We’ve had a couple of games this season when other teams have just been more physical than we are accustomed, and I think this has become a focus for the team, especially the bigs (No, Pekovic is not a real bulldozer, he just plays like one!). Love and Granger almost got into something the game prior, and I think the culmination of trying to be more aggressive along with the condensed schedule, just makes some players a little bit more “chippy” (as Love says in the interview).
The penalty he was handed today was warranted… It’s rough timing considering this is the first time we have been above .500 since 2007, but it will offer the chance for Derrick Williams to show his stuff at our otherwise log-jammed PF position.
The Love “stomp” wasn’t really some terrible “stomp”, but please stop trying to make excuses for what it was – a dirty play. Every team that has ever played has faced times when they don’t get calls. Hell, ask your coach whether or not the refs can go as far as taking away championships. I don’t recall Chris Webber losing his cool and stepping on dudes during random games though. I live in MN. I moved their right about the time Mayo was traded for him. He has gone from an underused force, to a star, to a guy who thinks he’s a god. The Wolves need to reign him in, as he is getting out of control with the whining and the faux (I wish) outrage that every minor touch on him isn’t called a flagrant. I’ve liked watching the Wolves ever since Love started getting playing time, but Love’s growing arrogance is quickly starting to outshine even Rubio’s entertainment value.

My point wasn’t to make an excuse or not call the play a dirty play, because it was. Rather, I saw the interview today and it at the very least made me appreciate the fact that he more or less owned up to things. Sure, Love needs to chill on the whining front, but he’s nowhere near the LeBron level of self-proclaimed royalty.

Never seen a no call get upgraded to a F2
How the hell do they miss that? Atrocious.

The refs were ahead of the play
Their main obligations are with the ball and the action on the other side of the floor.

They should have suspended him for the next Rockets game
Plus the 2 games he got. That would have been more fair IMO.
