With no big deals done by the trade deadline, the Rockets are still in position to have cap room this summer to sign a max dollar free agent. The question is who?
Obviously the only one player that really deserves a max contract is Deron Williams. With so many reports that he is locked in to go to Dallas who else is out there?
Deron Williams - Going to Dallas
Eric Gordon - Restricted and injury prone
Brook Lopez - Restricted, but a possible target for the Rockets. Not max player but he will fetch about $10M-12M
Ersan Ilyasova - Unrestricted and has been playing very well but he is a PF, a position the Rockets dont need.
Nicolas Batum - Restricted, and I doubt Portland doesnt match any offer thrown at him
Roy Hibbert - Young, restricted and in the same boat as Lopez. The Rockets should be players in offering something.
JaVale McGee - I would like to see how he does in Denver before the Rockets show any interest....cause this dude actually attempted the Cinnamon Challenge and recorded it.
Michael Beasly - B-Easy might be an interesting guy to add for the right price.
George Hill - A good pick up but is he better than C. Lee?
Looks like the biggest upgrade the Rockets can make is in the Center position. With Lowry locked in a PG and Patterson looking more like the starter of the future, the Rockets better look at improving the SF position in the draft.
Again if the Rockets miss the playoffs and the Mavs finish in the top ten in the league the Rockets will have 3 first round picks in this years draft. Can they flip Scola or Martin with a couple 1st round picks to move into the top 5??
