Rockets record: 27-23
Rockets WIN...113-106 a comeback OT win against the Sacramento Kings in Houston.
It wasn't pretty, but it was a good comeback win for the Rockets against the Kings.
Rockets could've easily let this game get out of hand if they had given up. Anyone who saw the game could tell you that the Rox started the game off super-painfully-slow and continued to play really badly for pretty much the WHOLE 1st quarter. The Kings outscored us by 12 in the 1st, 29-17. The Rockets were down 51-42 at the half and shooting only 34% in the 1st half.
Ugly, but the Rockets DIDN'T give up. They battled back.
Marcus Camby and Patrick Patterson weren't going to let the Rockets go down without a fight. They were both BIG TIME playmakers for us in this game. They didn't give up and kept making big plays for the Rockets, helping to keep the team in the game, until the calvary FINALLY arrived. Definitely BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.
Patterson came off his worst game as a pro, where he went 0-7 against the Mavs on Saturday; & he bounced back to have his best game as a pro to date, going 10-16 for 24 points against the Kings on Monday. Pat was very aggressive & he played really well on both ends of the court. How about that cold-blooded long 2-pointer PatPat drained to tie the game at 99 all with 8.3 seconds left in the 4th quarter?!!! Whoa, that's BIG TIME!!!
PatPat also played big in OT. He was a difference-maker in this game for us and he showed his potential as a basketball player, but he really needs to step up and be a difference-maker on a more CONSISTENT basis for us.
Marcus Camby continues to impress me. He was a shot-blockin'-fool tonight, indeed, he was 'credited' for 3 blocks. He was also very active on the boards. What impresses me MOST about Camby is his professional, veteran leadership ability. I really am liking him for what he brings to the Rockets team in that area.I think our team really needed that.
Camby went to the locker room to get his left wrist checked out in the 4th quarter, with the Kings leading the Rox 84-78 with 8:43 left in regulation, and he didn't return to the game. I'll admit that I was concerned that the Rox might lose their composure and let the game get away from us. To the Rockets credit, we didn't. We kept fighting back.
The Bad News: Camby has a torn ligament in his left wrist.
The Good news: Camby should not miss any playing time and is expected to play against Dallas on Tuesday night.
Goran Dragic, like most of the Rockets players, got off to a really slow start & he had 5 turnovers in the game, but he never put his head down or gave up. He kept fighting and finished with yet another double-double, scoring 14 points and getting 10 assists. Hell'uva job the Baby Dragon's been doing LEADING our team since the Baby Bull has been out. RESPECT!!!
When Goran twisted his ankle and collapsed on the ground, writhing in pain, with 1:18 left in OT, I must admit I freaked out a wee bit. My mind raced over worst case scenario after worst case scenario for the remainder of the Rockets season; not to mention THIS game.
Good thing for the Rockets that Earl BOYKINS stepped in for Dragic and didn't miss a beat. He earned his Rockets stripes by draining those 4 clutch FT's in OT to ice the game. Yeah, BOYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! ;D
After the game, Goran tweeted: "My ankle is ok! I'm gonna be ready for tomorrow vs Mavs. We have unfinished business with them:) huge game for us, let's go"
The Bad news: Goran twisted his ankle and it remains to be seen how or if it will affect his play for the remainder of the season.
The Good news: Goran should not miss any playing time & is expected to play against Dallas on Tuesday night.
DeMarcus Cousins & Marcus Thornton stood out for the Kings. Cousins had a career-high night with 38 points & 14 rebounds. Thornton scored 27 points, hitting some big shots for them, but all's well that ends well. The Rox left for Dallas with the 'W."
It was also good to see a couple of familiar faces on the Kings team: ex-Rockets Chuck Hayes (The Chuckwagon) and Terrence Williams, aka TWill. TWill played 17 minutes for the Kings and scored 10 points going 4-7 against the Rox. Offensively, TWill hit some nice shots for them, but athletic ability has NEVER been TWill's problem. It seemed like TWill was playing with a chip on his shoulder against his former team. Still, the Rox proved to be a little too much for the Kings to handle at the end of the game, and TWill missed a couple of key shots down the stretch.
Multiple times in this game the Rox fought back only to get stymied by Thornton and Cousins yet they never gave up and kept fighting The Rockets were down by 8 points with 5:30 left in the 4th before charging back to push the game into OT. Ultimately the Rockets came out with a much needed win against the Kings in OT.
In OT, it was pretty much all Rockets, with Patterson, Dragic, Parsons, and Boykins coming up big.
GO ROCKETS!!! Beat the Mavs!!!
Bring on the Mavs!!! It's payback time!!! We gotta go TAKE the 'W' from Dallas IN Dallas tonight!!!
♥ ♥ ♥ GO ROCKETS!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ BEAT THE MAVS!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

[Note by Xiane, 03/27/12 12:57 PM CDT ] Thanks Becca, you're now on the main page. I edited this a bit, but I think the sentiment is the same. All I'd say is consider fewer ellipses, adding commas and using the word "and". Great post and welcome.
