This is not one of Omer Asik's strengths. (Mandatory Credit: Mike DiNovo-US PRESSWIRE)
The DreamCast forges ahead, this time with another SB Nation guest -- Matt from Blogabull.com. We go into depth about Omer's role with the Chicago Bulls, his potential as a starter and the reasons for and against keeping him from a Bulls perspective.
If you missed it, FOX 26's Mark Berman reported that the Rockets will sign Asik to an offer sheet this afternoon (so, right about now, unless afternoons in NBA land extend until the sun goes down... UPDATE: According to Feigen, it has been signed but not yet delivered to the Bulls front office. Here we go again?). Again, it's a similar offer to the one that Jeremy Lin received -- there's a poison pill in the third year that would put the Bulls in an awfully expensive pickle, one that would cause them to flirt with a luxury tax that's only going to get more expensive.
In case you're curious, here are the contract details:
@KBergCBS Omer Asik's offer sheet with Houston is same terms as Jeremy Lin's - $5M, $5.2M, $14.9M. Bulls have three days to match.
Of course, the Rockets' cap hit goes something like $8.4 million for each year. The "Arenas rule" does not affect the team making the offer.
