Today Josh Smith was suspended one game for getting kicked out of practice. Multiple sources have confirmed that he wants to leave Atlanta, and that his preferred destinations are Memphis, Dallas, and Houston.
Smith could be a really good fit for the Rockets. He gets rebounds, which we're lacking in because Patterson is not a very good rebounder, he can be shoot jumpers, which fits in well with Mchale's offense, and most importantly, he can take some pressure and attention off of James Harden. Opposing teams main goal when they face the Rockets is to stop James Harden. If they do accomplish this (which isn't easy), they can win the game most of the time. If the Rockets got another threat on offense, like Smith, the Rockets could still win games even if Harden is stopped. When Harden is not stopped however, the Rockets can completely dominate if Smith plays well. Smith also adds another defensive presence. He's a great shot blocker, and can stick with quick guys. He can also run down the court very fast, and the Rockets like to have a very fast pace.
Some possible trade ideas for Smith and other power forwards who could fir in with the Rockets:
Patrick Patterson and a first round pick for Smith
Morris, Anderson or Beverly, and a first round pick for Smith
Morris and Douglas for Milisap
Aldrich, Patterson, and a second round pick for Jefferson
