i will post updates of their performance in this one post from time to time. Obviously only when Kings win and those three played well and i am able to watch the game, because really this is a fanpost
Timbervolves@kings
Patterson
a tale of two halves. in the first he made all of his shots but played a bad D and hardly could get a rebound. in the second half, sadly Paterson was never given the ball, two failed put backs and two missed jump shots, 2pat however played good D on Pekovic when Cousins is on the court, he also started to get rebounds and block.
Believe or not Cousins did change after the trade. Cousin started the game not being able to guard Pekovic at all, Pek got 10+ points in the first qt. His attitude changed when He was put on the court together with 2pat. Smart is smart enough not to put on Cousins on Pek again, but cousins became more aggresive in chasing rebounds and blocking shots. To be honest Cousins still showed bad body language and commited 5 fouls but it is clear that he was determined to win the game and not getting fouled out.
Aldrich
I am not joking here, Aldrich is the true game changer in the game. Forget what the pres said about Isaiah Thomas and Tyreke Evans, because they often killed kings' offense by not passing to open teammates. It wasAldrich D that stopped red hot Pek and changed the flow of the game. He also rotated well , kinda like Asik without his fast lateral movement. He still committed goofy mistakes
Douglas
He was called upon when Isaiah Thomas can't cover JJ Barea and to provide D and score. He did exactly what he was asked for
Kings @ nuggets
Paterson
as usual, kings have no ball movement, which means Paterson rarely ever got the ball.Paterson played well defensively before committing two consequentive fouls late in third quarters, which would not have happened had kings rebounded the ball before nuggets did.
Aldrich
He played a good defense that sparked Kings comeback in the second quarter. He played strong to start the fourth quarter before committing a foul that sent him to the bench.
Douglas
Played early in the fourth quarter , gave a good assist to Paterson. Like Aldrich, a foul doomed douglas.
notes
all three ex committed their costly fouls during a stretch of kings' lead. IMO Had the game played in Sacramento Nuggets Would have lost the game. Kings' mood were so ruined that it led to easy fast break points for nuggets.
Cousins continued to play poor defense in the first quarter and then upped his game when 2pat is on the court.
Nuggets' frontcourt were really abused by cousins who went to the rim and scored at will. IMO nuggets frontcourt are good but not special, Rockets should go to their frontcourt, if they want to defeat nugget. Defends Gallinari 3pt shoot and rebound the ball well because nuggets can thrive on drawing fouls after offensive rebounds
Kings@Suns
Paterson
Demarcus Cousins in this game was a polar opposite of Omer Asik, a maestro on the offense, a hole on defense. Cousins completely dominated Scola and then Haddadi on offense, but can’t do anything to stop Suns’ penetration.
2pat came in the second quarter and gave Cousins a much needed help on defense. Cousins repayed the favour by throwing the ball at 2pat’s head once and giving 2pat the ball whenever he could.
In the second half, Kings tried their luck without Paterson only to watch their lead dwindled from 19 pts to 8 pts in a fast and furious manner. 2pat was called again and this time until the game was over. 2 pat was in danger of finishing with only 2 points before Chuck Hayes came to his rescue in the fourth quarter. 2pat finished with 10 points (5for 10), 10 rebounds, 2blocks despite playing with a sore thumb in his shooting hand
*I never once saw 2pat smiled, maybe new teammates and new environment. He only got the ball from Cousins and ex rockets. Isiah Thomas was angry and went as far as hitting 2pat’s head with the ball because 2pat played defense,*exaggration lol. Btw turned out 2pat could catch alley oop eventhough he failed to throw it in this time.
Chuck Hayes
Safe to say He was one of few kings who knew that 2pat even existed.... his two man game with 2pat in the fourth quarter put the suns away for good. His passes were things of beauty Btw
Aldrich
Poor guy, it was not his fault Coach Smart was not smart enough to realize that Aldrich’s strength lies in his big body. Aldrich was owned by the bigger Haddadi, who even blocked his his shot. Aldrich was more useful late in the fourth quarter, when everybody was pint sized compared to him.
Douglas
In the second quarter, Douglas and Isiah Thomas did their best impersonation of 2pat and Cousins. Douglas provided 3 steals, 2 rebounds plus 7 points in just 10:28 minutes of action. He didn’t see more action because it looked like a blowout, and Kings wanted to experiment to see which players they should keep for next season
capsule
To understand what ex rockets (including Chuck) brought to this game. Well, Kings invented a machine to create defected clones of James Harden, same approach to the game but with lesser talents in every aspect. Even a bench player like Travis Outlaw almost isoed Kings out of the game. Yep basic understanding of the game and defense.
