I wanted to watch Turkey Vs Russia, unfortunately i overslept and only watched last 8 minutes of the game. So instead of reviewing the game . I decided to write some sort of preview of houston rocketsby reviewing Omer Asik's performance in two game i watch, turkey vs greece and turkey vs russia.
It's clear that Asik doesn't want to come off the bench and probably won't give his 100 if he is given that role. we don't know whether his duet with Howard will work or not. So rockets's season will hinge on whether rocket can flip him for their third piece or not.
Asik was his usual defensive stallwart. When he was on the floors, greece was barely able to score around the rim. if his teammates hadn't forgotten their defensive assignment, Turkey could have completely stiffled Greece's offense. Offense is another story tough. while he was able to capitalize on 3 Q1 offensive rebound for 6 easy points, he fumbled what would be the last past to him in the game. He also missed a 2 feet jumper .In the game against Russia, he again fumbled a pass.
if asik don't fix his stone hands and make himself a passable receiver, his fumbles will reduce his value in the eyes of league execs.
Mind you, turkey is weird, instead trying to devise a working game plan, their coach tried to solve problems through substitution. needs defense put omer asik on the floor, need offense it's semih erden's time. Kevin Mchale's looks like a good x and o guy compared to turkey's coach.
well actually the problem is turkey doesn't have a good point guard
