Houston Rockets acquire Jordan Hamilton from the Denver Nuggets for Aaron Brooks

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

We have the Rockets first trade of the day as they will send Aaron Brooks to the Denver Nuggets for Jordan Hamilton.

Every year, whether it's big or small, Daryl Morey makes a deal at the trade deadline. There's still over an hour to go, but the Rockets have made their first move of the day, trading Aaron Brooks to the Denver Nuggets for Jordan Hamilton, as Adrian Wojnarowski reported. Brooks has been out of the rotation for weeks, and Hamilton will bring some depth to a bench unit that lacks any young wing play.

With Omri Casspi and Francisco Garcia struggling with injuries and ineffectiveness as of late, the Rockets were in need of a solid wing player, and hopefully Hamilton can provide that. Hamilton has struggled for the Nuggets this year, but the former Longhorn could thrive in a much better shooting environment than Denver.

Brooks, meanwhile, has apparently waived his de facto no-trade clause in order to get more playing time in Denver. Ty Lawson has been banged up, and Andre Miller is on the move, so the Nuggets needed some depth at the point guard spot. Let's hope he can excel with the Nuggets.

It may be a minor move, but both teams addressed some depth issues and got better. Will Morey do anything more today?
