What do we need?:
Great wing D and neutral to positive 3 point, spread the floor, shooting.
What doesn't seem to work with Harden: a ball dominant PG, who needs the ball to succeed
What Stephenson brings to us is:
All we need and what does not bring what we don't need.
We get a great defender who also adds great offense to boot.
He fills the skills we need to add with a new player.
The downside or possible downside:
One issue though is that this teams needs leadership. Holding the players accountable and being the glue in the locker room to keep people and and to get the team to work as a team. We need that and Stephenson isn't that. He has had attitude issues in the past and without the strong leadership of Bird and others on the Pacers, which I feel is lacking on the Rockets, So there's that.
Also, people could say that he won't work with another SG with Harden. But lets be honest, when he is on the court, Harden is the PG...or pretty damn close to it. Stephenson is similar to Harden in that he plays PG with the Pacer's 2nd team, so the two of them can be hybrid PG/SGs and run with whoever is on the court. I think the fact that he has PG capability but doesn't need the ball to be successful means he could work well.
Anyway, just an idea but I would love any responses.
