With James Harden in Houston, Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, and Chandler Parsons all held out of the rotation, and Patrick Beverley and Dwight Howard on a minutes limit, the Rockets were in for an uphill battle in New Orleans on Wednesday night. Their replacements, including Troy Daniels who had a career high 22 points, fought admirably, but ultimately fell to the Pelicans by a score of 105-100.
The Rockets bombed away from three, hitting 14 long bombs, but otherwise struggled on the night. Tyreke Evans torched the team for 25 points, and the Rockets committed six more turnovers than the Pelicans. There were signs of hope, however, as Donatas Motiejunas had a very respectable 11 and 10 night in just 17 minutes. The aforementioned Daniels and Jordan Hamilton hit ten threes between the two of them, and despite a group of second-choice players on the floor, the Rockets almost won a seemingly meaningless finale.
