Hidalgo might not be big enough for Yao Ming, but it's precisely where Yao will return to the court for the first time since ankle surgery. This isn't terribly exciting news - at its core, it's just a pre-season scheduling announcement and nothing more. But the people of Hidalgo are happy, and if they're happy, then the Rockets are happy.
Yao and Rockets CEO Tad Brown were in the Valley to announce details of the exhibition. In addition, the Rockets will hold training camp in the McAllen area beginning Oct. 3.
"We are going to be here for a long time," Brown said. "And we think the relationship with the (Valley) fans is going to be better."
Carry on with your lives, now.
