It's the final 48 hours and it is getting hard to keep up with all the trade murmurs that are getting louder and louder. But there are a couple of new ones today.
Woj says that there are lots of teams that are calling about Shane Battier and Courtney Lee. He specifically lists Tom Thibodeau's interest in Lee, but that the Bulls brass will not part with Taj Gibson or Ömer Aşık. Which, coincidentally, are the two players on the roster Houston is interested in. Way to bring your chips to the poker table, Paxson.
Boston was listed as having high interest in Shane Battier, but they don't have much to give up that would be of interest to Houston other than a draft pick that would be in the late 20's at best.
According to the New York Daily News, the Nets are interested in prying away Aaron Brooks. Shouldn't be too hard, I don't think. The Nets have a lot of pieces to work with now that the Melodrama is over. But before everyone starts talking about making a move for Favors or Lopez, remember that you aren't going to get either of those guys for a package centered around Aaron Brooks. The most likely move they are discussing is Devin Harris and a draft pick for AB and an expiring (most likely Jeffries). The salaries match and New Jersey is looking to dump some salary. But that is just a guess on my behalf.
Tom already touched on the Nene stuff and there has been little to no discussion of that on Twitter since last night.
More rumors as they develop.
UPDATE: Alex Kennedy (even though he is from Hoopsworld and I never take anything they report seriously) just tweeted this:
Rockets shopping Yao Ming, Chase Budinger, Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams, Jared Jeffries and Jordan Hill. All available for right price. Source close to situation reiterates that plenty of teams have called for Aaron Brooks, but he's likely staying in Houston. Houston has expressed a lot of interest in Nene. If he doesn't sign an extension with Denver, expect the Rockets to pursue him.
UPDATE 2: My ol' buddy Chris "how the hell did I get this job" Broussard added this a little while ago:
Houston covets 3 big men: Gortat, Varejao and Nene. Unlikely to get any if them.
Well, that's just perfect...However, I would rather get Lee to play center than trade for Varejao...
