The Dream Shake 2012 NBA Mock Draft: Fifth Pick

For many, this was the most exciting part of Kings games in the 2011-2012 season.
For many, this was the most exciting part of Kings games in the 2011-2012 season.

Folks, the draft order has been established. Your devoted writers here at the Dream Shake have set up a mock draft, pick by pick, to be delivered to you daily. We will be going through the first round of the draft with our selections and our reasons why we think we will correctly predict the whole damn thing.

AK can't make his selection today as he's in dispose (Driving around Texas) so I'm making the pick for him. His selection is in via Twitter. To remind everyone of the draft order (Lest we forget this is a full on mock, not a "Who should the team pick as BPA?" necessarily) the draft order has gone like this:

1. Anthony Davis (New Orleans) 2. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Portland via Trade) 3. Andre Drummond (Washington) 4. Harrison Barnes (Cleveland) 5. Follow the jump to find out!

With the fifth pick in the NBA draft, the Sacramento Kings select Thomas Robinson, 6'8" Power Forward from Kansas. No justification was given for the pick (Though AK can post that when he settles in if he would like) I will provide you with nbadraft.net's evaluation of him and draftexpress.com's profile of him.

AK addition: I think the Kings would love Beal if it weren't for the fact that they already have two good guards in Isaiah Thomas and Tyreke Evans. Factor in Marcus Thornton and DeMarcus Cousins and you have a lot of guys who need shots. Thomas Robinson makes the most sense here because he won't demand shots and can learn a lot from Chuck Hayes too. If the Kings are willing to deal Evans or Thornton, then maybe Beal lands here. But assuming no trades, Robinson makes sense here.
