Going into Friday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Rockets were dealt a tough blow as Jeremy Lin was ruled out for the next two weeks with a knee injury. They did, however, get a big boost as James Harden rejoined the starting lineup after missing three games with sore feet. Harden made an instant impact in this one, combining with Patrick Beverley and Chandler Parsons for one of the most exciting plays of the Rockets young season.
Beverley first takes a three, which comes up a bit short and bounces around. Harden rushes over to corral the rebound, but his momentum carries him out of bounds. Instead of taking the turnover, Harden blindly tosses the ball behind, and somehow finds Patrick Beverley who dishes to Chandler Parsons for the big three ball.
Parsons hit all four of the threes he took as the Rockets raced out to a 66-40 lead at the half over the depleted Nets squad that's missing Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams, Kevin Garnett and others. The Rockets were 11-18 from three as a team, and simply dominated the Nets as they scored 33 in each of the first two quarters.
With the Spurs looming tomorrow night, let's see if the Rockets can get a few of their reserves in during the fourth quarter.
